Isn't Digimon essentially just Pokemon: Capeshit Edition?

Isn't Digimon essentially just Pokemon: Capeshit Edition?

That's not how it works you little shit.
Literally the only thing pokemon and digimon have in common is superpowered creatures beating the crap out of one another
Like fuck, digimon could be considered lovecraft fanfiction if you look at the fact that it's a fucking cosmic horror story with all its demon lords, zeedmillenniummons, dexmon, grandracmon, and all the furries like renamon
pokemon is pretty much about befriending superpowered creatures that actively try to murder one another even when a 10 year old with a ball doesn't tell them to (if you think i'm bulshitting, read some of their dex entries.)

Nah it's pokemon: Hyper furry edition

>Isn't Medarot essentially just Pokemon: Mecha Edition?
You realize how dumb that'd sound? Digimon and Pokemon have as much similarity as all other shows with monster partners have.

That was until the 3rd series and you know what it is.

Digimon has more soul.

>You're now remembering the Dexit debacle
>When Digimon have literally never once included all currently known digimon

Digimon also never set a precedent and doubled down on it with a paid service marketed as a solution for letting you transfer in future games.

Which game has the highest Digimon count?
Is it still Dawn/Dusk?

no it's Pokemon: waifu edition

Pokemon is Digimon for autistic people, if you're an adult and prefer the former please kill yourself

If only Digimon had SOME means of organizing it's monsters it would probably be as popular
Not even the evolution lines stay consistent

>Not even the evolution lines stay consistent
That's successfully marketing a bug as a feature.

"More"? If Digimon had merely 5% of Soul it would still be more than the 200% Soulless piece of garbage that is Pokemon the Animated Toy Commercial

Why didn't digimon get big as pokemon?

>never once included all currently known digimon
And that's why I've never bothered to play a Digimon game.

>Isn't Medarot essentially just Pokemon: Mecha Edition?
to be fair...

see

If only this king were to direct a digimon movie

Oh Beelzebumon, the perfect digimon, beautiful design with just the right amount of edginess.

>Digimon
>Capeshit
I don't think you know what that word means

you posted the wrong waifu

For me it's Shine Greymon: BURST MODO!

Not at all.

Kind of surprised you wrote it that way rather than vice versa, which still wouldn't be true, but Pokemon is more palatable to general audiences.

They're both pretty dark, but Digimon is more overt with it.

Pokemon continued to downplay its darkness until it was almost completely gone.

What is megaten?

>childhood was thinking renamon was hot
>adulthood was realizing that tailmon was the hot one
These feelings...

I'm not sure this is true.

I like Digimon and I'm not super into new Pokemon content, but most Digimon stuff is pretty trash when you stop to think about it, and it seems trapped in its Adventure era.

Digimon never marketed itself in that way that Pokemon did. Being able to collect literally every creature, while difficult, was still a massive part of Pokemon's charm.

This is what browsing Zig Forums does to your brain.

It all makes sense when you realize Gatomon is the legal one

Ew, don't reply me ever again

Considering 60% of the 1200 or so Digimon are shitty recolors and that there's literally never been any reason to complain about this unless your specific favorite was excluded I don't see how those correlate at all

Literally retarded
The only seasons that were the same shit level as Pokemon are Hunters and Adv revivals
While Pokemon has 20 years of that same horseshit

Imagine unironically using that extremely cringey term.

I still think you're based user

Well, yeah, the Pokemon anime might be trash, but it still has a plethora of well lauded content. And people who follow the anime only seemed to really get sick of it around BW/XY. Also, people tend to center in on the games and how they're doing, rather than the anime. People have been saying Pokemon have better games but Digimon have better anime productions for years now.

None of this really negates the fact that the vast majority of Digimon content as a whole is trashy. It's like pulp fiction, really. Digimon continues to experiment with itself with every new piece of media that comes out. It doesn't really have an identity.

At first, its willingness to experiment set it apart from Pokemon, but as time goes on, its become more of a detriment than anything else. It's not a good thing that Digimon has no identity.
