So is it really that bad or is it just cool to hate it like twilight was? Is there any redeeming qualities about it?

>Is there any redeeming qualities about it?
Yeah, good music, nice animation at times, genuinely good VA work.

the moment the vines touched the little girl, I'd had enough.

I hadn't really been exposed to harem nonsense, I was just sitting there the whole time "Oh man, can't wait for him to link up with klein again, and a group of basedbros will take down bosses"

there's also kirito being a little shit a lot of the time, I don't know why I didn't trash this self-insert shit anime earlier, probably because I wasn't familiar enough with weeb culture to recognize the signs at the time

You tell me

and then there's season 2, where his cousin has a crush on him.

Japan, like, what's wrong with you?
What's wrong with America, why is weird ass nonsense and borderline incest shit on the front pages of porn sites?

we were too easy on Japan

> mentioning non canon stuff

shit.

its fine, a bit tedious and dumb at times. Overly dramatic you name it. most people enjoyed it until they got braincontrolled by their favorite (you)tuber and it became a meme like "haha my fav anime boku no pico xDD"

How the fuck did we get a harem isekai where the MC not only picks a girl in the first 10 episodes but also canonically fucks her right at the start? Why do other other shows like it have to pull the endless blueball routine when SAO is succesful without the endless will-they-won’t-they stuff?

>cool to hate it
This.

It has problems, don't get me wrong, but it's fun, has a mostly decent story, and genuinely moving at times.

it gets better over time, the author started writing the series in like 2005 or some shit and has gradually improved as a writer over the 15 or so years hes been writing the series, I would say the Alicization arc is a solid 8/10. So its not complete shit, but it takes like three seasons to get to a watchable arc.

It was great and I love Lisbeth and the doujins.

Just finished the final part of Alicization. In terms of ranking, its:
>Alicization
>Season 1 - SAO Arc
>Alicization - War of Underworld Part 1
>Ordinal Scale
>Season 2 - Mother's Rosario
>Literal feces
>Alicization - War of Underworld Part 2
>Season 2 - Phantom Bullet
>Season 1 - Alfheim Online
>Season 2 - Excaliber
The series overall is pretty shit, but has it's moments. Kirito is a literal god to the women in the show and it just gets really annoying having them ride his dick all the time. Especially when he's a vegetable in Alicization and they all collectively suck him off when they get into Underworld. None of the villians are good except Kayaba, the rest are just retards or forgettable. And uh, yea guess that's about it. I would titty fuck Sugu and make Yui a suppository.

>the pleasure from being cum inside
bae author.

The pacing is shit, though whether that's A1 or actually written remains to be seen. Kirito is a void by which all interesting and/or compelling concepts are swallowed. What side characters exist either devolve into jerking off Kirito, die, and/or turn out to be villains. In the most recent arc, there was a villain who actually checked all 3 boxes.

The only good parts of the series are generally the arcs which limit Kirito's screentime to basically nothing, but they inevitably come back to him being the primary focus through one method or another. It's frustrating, because all those characters who are better-designed overall also fall to the wayside or end up dead. It's frustrating that whoever is editing the LN and getting it pushed to publishing has such a low bar for what makes good storytelling. The potential for a really good series is there, but it gets swallowed up by Reki being shit at letting any character aside his wish-fulfillment self-insert be anything aside an onahole that praises Kirito for breathing.

It introuduced a character named Sugou and Sugu(ha) in the same arc

>Why do other other shows like it have to pull the endless blueball routine when SAO is succesful without the endless will-they-won’t-they stuff?
Because Reki knows the people doesn't care if the MC goes for a single girl, just having cute girls to watch. If anything, Kirito x Asuna is its own form of wish fulfillment that works.
Dude is good at expressing what he wants.

>He ranks Alicization and first arc above WotU
>He ranks MR below OS, Alicization, and SAO
The rest is fine, but your opinion is still shit. In terms of actual good writing.

>MR
>WotU Part 1
>WotU Part 2
>Alicization
>Excalibur
>PB
>Feces
>SAO
>Alfheim
>OS

Excalibur's one redeeming quality is that it manages to be a fun little romp of the main cast doing a quest if you disregard the absolutely pants-on-head retarded excuse that somehow, these AI have bypassed the ability of DMR and/or devs to prevent a complete crash of all servers. PB's whole murder mystery plot is stupid as fuck, but again, it's a cute notion bogged down by Kirito somehow performing feats of speed akin to The Flash and Sinon's PTSD making absolutely no fucking sense.

Kirito was too autistic to bone his cousin who wanted his dick more than anything. He is a perpetual twink for all I care.

>He is a perpetual twink for all I care.
I'm fine with this

Nah, war of underworld was just a fancy vfx light show with a bunch of literal who characters like Renly. I would actually move Mother's Rosario above OS i think tho. The whole appeal of SAO was the first arc of being trapped in a game where if you died then your computer helmet fries your brain. The first season of Alicization kind of brought that back where Kirito could actually get fucked up again. The characters are not written well enough for me to care about them unless there is that fear of actual consequences. WofU 2 lost me when kirito was healing whole armies and getting ripped in half while staying alive.
And unless i missed them talking about it, how was hooking him up to an STL supposed to heal him from getting that AIDs syringe injected into him. I feel like a normal hospital could've done something about a muscle relaxant.

Pretty close to what I think but I'd make some adjustments

>Alicization
>Alicization - War of Underworld Part 1
>Season 1 - SAO Arc
>Literal feces
>Season 2 - Mother's Rosario
>Alicization - War of Underworld Part 2
>Season 2 - Phantom Bullet
>Season 1 - Alfheim Online
>Season 2 - Excaliber
>Ordinal Scale

Also just to add, but the way A1 does fight scenes is ass. They did better with some of the fights in Alicization, like Vassago vs. Eiji, but holyshit I hate their spastic quick cuts and pretty flashing lights.

Problem with the first arc is, beyond the first three episodes, most of it is shit. The Moonlight Black Cats arc is good, but hardly enough to save what was otherwise a shit season. OS had a completely stupid premise that was held up by a cool concept, but that's about it. Nothing accounts for other-worldly acrobatics by people who, by all rights, have never been formally trained in that shit.

Alicization had cool concepts and even if fluctlights never got developed upon, I would have loved to see the basis of how Administrator suppressed identity without crippling the "soul" of the individual. I think that alone was a wasted opportunity to explore a concept that could have produced a far more compelling villain for the second part.

WotU part 1 was a good war story in that it was just a bunch of knights and their fodder trying to win what amounted to a hopeless war, with the one "checkmate" action being Alice's fluctlight being given to the good guys in the RL. The cast beyond Alice, Bercouli, Asuna, and the two villains didn't need much in terms of development if the story stuck to the idea that anyone was prone to having their story ended abruptly and there was no plot armour. Part 2's introduction of Deus ex Alfheim was even well-utilized, despite the retardation of having Koreans and Americans backdoor into a Japanese military server repeatedly. Having an army of tank builds actually backfired hilariously, although it's unfortunate that it did nothing to influence the main cast later on.

The STL being used to keep Kirito alive was more to redirect brain impulses so his heart wasn't under as much stress. It's terrible writing that completely disregards known medicine, but there it is

it's cool to hate on it and it is that bad that anyone with a brain would naturally come to hate it for being a retarded series create by a hack like cuckawara

Agreed

I think it's bad but to me it was just regular bad. Not really worth making into anime twilight.

It's cool to hate it. Unironically enjoyable experience if you take it at face value

Will never not be based

It's just cool to hate it.

>Aincrad
>GGO, Mother's Rosario, Ordinal Scale

It's a power fantasy like High School DxD so it mostly depends on your personal tastes, from a certain point of view its trash since the main theme of the series can be considered as that is okay to live in a fantasy world where you are the most special person since you don't have what it takes to stand out in the real world.

Basically, Marche was right and Kirito is a faggot like Mewt and Donne.

Kirito should have been the one to go with the sleeping knights, helping them could have given him peace for the party he failed
