Which is why I think maybe the best writing came in the form of Haruno and Sensei's perspectives regarding relationships; 8man obsesses over Haruno defining the trio's relationship as co-dependence, and Sensei's advice that relationships aren't easy to define in a single word would have been the perfect excuse for him, because he could say every fucking excuse he could think of while telling her the truth. And you didn't even address the fact that the relationship is supposedly interfering with Yukino's growth as a person, which is why she wants him to be with Yui, because she thinks that it's the best "logical" outcome.
Sagami was a cunt and she deserved it. The Ebina thing was mostly out of necessity because of how incompetent Yui and Yukino were being to be unable to go up to Ebina in front of Tobe and ask her if she liked someone, only for her to reply with what she said to 8man. And your point doesn't work regardless because those instances are brought up to chide 8man for hurting himself, not expressly for being an autistic fuck hard to understand. Because the way he acted is easy to follow. It wasn't in the final act.

Didn't he say in his conversation with Yui that words weren't enough to convey his feelings? The whole prom thing wasn't just to prevent him from making an excuse, I'm pretty sure it's also 8man saying to himself and to Yukino how great his affection for her is. Yukino also sounded really happy when she found that out, so it worked in the end.

Except that's part of his whole character. The only difference between the Sagami/Ebina thing and the prom thing is that he's not sacrificing himself anymore, but instead he's being selfish for a change. His methods are still the same. It's not that easy to change that part of his personality and I don't think it's was ever the author's intent to change it since that's part of what makes him so entertaining to watch. It's the reason why so many people like 8man as a character.

No, they aren't, because what he does for Yukino is not sacrifice himself, and it's hard to follow. What he did to Sagami and Ebina was self-sacrificial and he justified it quite easily.
I disagree, I think 8man's popularity comes from self-inserts and the people that read his shit as teens into adulthood, or other edgy incels that identified in them his disdain for normalfags, calling nice girls like Yui whores, and basically everything Sensei tries to fix in him. Which was the express purpose of the club for both Yukino and 8man, except it went from that to the relationship club where no one learns anything, because they're just as shit as interacting with others as when they began, the difference being they love each other.
