The OVA did the Egypt Arc so much more justice it's not even fun, especially Jotaro v. Dio

Also, unpopular opinion, but I actually like the OVA's art style better than the manga and anime

Part 4 really needed an OVA that removed all the filler and got to the meat of the story.

So you want a part lasting four episodes?

OVA dub DIO is his best voice, but everyone else sucks.

I like Takehito Koyasu, but his voice only works for PB Dio IMO, when was young and wild, not for SC DIO who is (or at least should be) more calm and mature, and that's where Andrew Chaikin comes in with his snake-ish, lowkey delivery, perfectly fitting DIO.

I know it's a meme but you could really feel the fear in polnarefs voice when he was screaming KAKYOIN

I actually agree with this, I like the ova cause it's more serious in tone and doesn't double down on the campiness from the manga and anime.

The negative effect for the world is way better than the new anime, the clock sound is kinda lame

Ova has better animation and art, but that's the case for most 90's anime in general.

IT'S AN ENEMY STAND!

>Old anime is better than new digital shit

Woah ! colour me surprised.

It's weird I think the Davidpro anime is generally pretty good but for some reason they never quite do the finales of each arc as well as I'd hope
I guess they're just so consistent with the quality that the finales always just feel like another episode
Of course it doesn't help that part 4 and 5 just have anticlimactic endings
I agree anyway the OVA version of Jotaro vs Dio is significantly better than the anime series even if some of the details are missing

Kakyoin's entrance after getting N'DOULED was fucking kino in the OVA.

This is actually pretty true, especially for Golden Wind. Aside from not having much of a "fight", whatever air we had from the finale was completely squashed out with the flashback in the final episode. It's been years since I read Part 5. Was that always there at the end in the manga?

yes, it was just as wierd then too, I think david added a bit of extra fluff scenes with the main cast to drag out what was just one page of giorno being the boss at the very end so it wasn’t so strange

Stand effects feel more terrifying than they do in the OVA compared to the TV series. You can really get a good sense of dread and fear when DIO activates The World

I make a point to watch this fight at least once a year. It’s pretty incredible, I really love it. The OVA exists in a weird place though where if find it hard to recommend to a first time viewer. It’s like a NG+ for part 3. Despite this I generally prefer it, but I wouldn’t call everything “better”. youtu.be/VAoBQlhs74c Is the best song in the OVA, if you ask me, but the anime has more great songs in total, like Virtuous Pope and the OPs. Also, if you’re not me and don’t totally love the hammy dub, the Japanese VAs for the anime are mostly all better fits. But I love the OVA, I need to find a physical release someday.

Is there really anyone that likes the david shit over the OVA? I had no idea it was even a contest.

the worst thing about part 5 finale is that right after the gang meets diavlo for the first time, Silver Chariot Requiem fuckery starts.

>The OVA did the Egypt Arc so much more justice
I agree, now if only Dio's nip voice actor didn't suck old man ass it would be perfection.

I don't think the serious tone really fits JoJo overall but I do appreciate them having a different take on it, the last battle is especially better than the DBZ shit the original does. Great art and animation too.

The animation? Fuck no, the OVA was absolutely fantastic when it came to the animation
But the voicing? Holy shit are they leagues apart. OVA DIO, while not awful, can't even begin to hold a candle to the psychotic energy brought by Takehito

I think one of the few things that I don't like about the OVA is how they turn Joseph. Fucking JOSEPH JOESTAR. Into a serious character. The man who beat the Ultimate Vampire with nothing but shit talk and dumb luck, and they remove like 99% of his humor

>not watching the OVA dubbed

I didn't realize OVA Dio voice was hated, this is a first for me. I may need to have a rewatch.

>KAKYOIN

>AHH
>AHH
>KAKYOIN
>THEY GOT HIS EYES
Or better yet
>AN OIL TANKER FOR YOU
Nah, in this case it's ok to be a puritan about Sub v Dub, the Dub for the OVA is not good

I wouldn't say hated. It's just not very DIO. It fits the more serious tone of the OVA way better than Takehito would, but it just doesn't feel right. Plus it's kind of wooden in some places

They probably thought they could skate with that because as another poster pointed out, they pretty much did away with a lot of the humorous undertones in the OVA. They weren't really following hot on the heels of Battle Tendency, and the only reason Phantom Blood got recognition at all in that animation is because you can't mention Stardust Crusaders without it.

>All these years later and the PB OVA is still lost to time
The mystery surrounding it was probably better than the OVA, but still

thats lost? I have a shitty bootleg of that

I was just about to ask about that actually. Is there really nobody on earth that has it somewhere? I really just want to know if it was as bad as everyone says it was.

i have a vhs copy of it i got from yahoo auctions from like years back

It has to be out there, sitting in a room in an old theater or something. It had a limited theatrical release so I refuse to believe that it's just GONE

Upload it

Can you help some of us out? I'm surprised that to this day it's not better distributed.

Was it really THAT fucking terrible?

You do not. It never got a home release.

its a bootleg vhs copy someone made, I got it on yahoo auctions japan back when there wasn't even a search for this. I'll find a way to convert it to something digital

Kill yourselves.

Big if true

you better not be bullshitting or I’ll be mildly disappointed

Don't be a fag user !!! Deliver.

Maybe they wanted him because they knew he'd be perfect for the "FINAL ROUND" section of the fight.

not like jojo threads are going anywhere

wait a minute, VHS bootleg for a 2007 movie?

I think you need to get your ears checked. The Eng dub at worst is mediocre.

VHS hung around for quite a while, and with no home release it’s not out of the question that people were still bootlegging with VHS recorders.

I watched this some time ago because I learned Satoshi Kon worked on it. To anybody curious, just watch it. Don't try to make it a dick measuring contest with the anime. They were made in different contexts, with different intentions and different direction. Appreciate it for what it is. It's worth watching.
