Given that Dragon Ball as a series is more inclined towards maintaining the status quo rather than having meaningful and significant changes, does it potentially run the risk of becoming stagnant?
We've seen that older elements of the series have been all but forgotten in the name of lowest-common-denominator mass market appeal but does that mean that at its core Dragon Ball will cease to be the soulful and captivating series that drew in a generation and will instead become little more than a formulaic money-printing device?

With the start of Super, they were reviving an almost 2 decades-old franchise without knowing beforehand whether it would do well with the current audience.
So the most reasonable thing to do was starting off with trying to appeal as much as possible to the old DBZ fanbase, which is most easily done by bringing back tried and trusted, easily recognized tropes and narrative scenarios back.
Yes, this can make it repetetive when you've watched DBZ beforehand and you cannot help but see every arc is more or less a rehash of previous concepts with different flavors.
New main characters would be a viable way to fix this. I know Goku and Vegeta will never be replaced, but I'd much appreciate if some other secondary characters such as Gohan would get a change to come close to their relevancy in a future arc.

We had a U6 tournament and that's cool, but after that it could've been cool to have an arc take place in another universe after that instead of the story just blowing all its load by making and all-out battly royal of all 11 universes

Not strictly true, since they'd already revived it with the BoG movie. At that point they were simply introducing new characters for Goku & Friends to fight but by making them into gods it raised the bar to fantastic new heights that really did stretch credibility.

The fact is that every form introduced since Super Saiyan 3 has just been a lazy recolor - Super Saiyan God is normal but with red hair, Super Saiyan Blue is Super Saiyan but with blue hair, Ultra Instinct is normal but with silver hair. It's derivative and creatively uninspired.

At the same time you can't have anything that's too radical a departure otherwise it's thematically alien not to mention it'll probably lose popularity with the core audience. Well, what's left of them anyway.
I think the best thing would be a more stylistic version of Super Saiyan 4.
