In before normalfags claim Getter is a Gurren Lagann ripoff, fellow /m/echachad

This series any good?

Only shitposters say that though.
Its one of the better giant robot franchises.

Hell yeah! It's what inspired Gurren Lagann. Make sure to watch Armagedon, the 1998 OVA, and New, the 2004 show. Mecha at it's finest. Shin vs Neo is also a comfy watch.

Too bad you gotta read the original manga series to watch this one though.

Seethe, for you know not of true mecha HOT BLOOD! STOOOOONEEEEEER SUUUUNSHINEEEEE!!!!!!

Does anyone know if that Getter Robo Devolution manga was any good?

Arc was never completed 'cause Ishikawa died. But yeah, that's the problem. If you happen to have time for the usual longrunning shit, you have time for Getter.

I'm just excited for more trisectional cut ins.

iirc the original manga isn't that long. Or am I mistaken? As far as I know the very first manga has like 4-5 volumes after that there's like 3-4 sequels (one of which is Arc which isn't completed). So in that case I don't think there would be problems for anyone willing to get into it. still hoped for sakuga kino 2D mechs though

It's not. It goes original > G > Go > Arc with Shin slotting in between G and Go chronologically and Hien between Go and Arc. That's pretty much all Ishikawa. Devolution is interesting, but it also turns the characters into teenagers, so you decide on that one. There's also a currently ongoing mahjong themed Getter with a girl protag, but I dunno whwther someone is translating.

How many mecha shows are planned for 2021? Kinda hoping for a suprise FMP final season.

This, Evangelion Rebuild 4.0, Gundam Hathaway's Flash... that's all I can remember, but it's also franchise heavyhitters too

There's also dynazenon

Good to know
And will do

Hien is not by Ishikawa

>CG

No don't do this to me.

Yeah, and apparently there's been a trademark registered for something Code Geass related too
2021 is gonna all be about digging giant robots apparently...

But it was based on his notes so Ishikawa would've gotten on it had it not been for his death, so it counts IMO

Only giant robots can fix the cesspit that is 2020.

BELIEVE

Can we please stop acting like it's 2016? CG was never inherently bad and it's been pretty good as of late.

This is Toei right? How could they be good at this but shit in DBZ?

Yes and I don't have a clue what you're talking about as if Dragon Ball had bad CGI in recent times.

You could at least post a better example

I don't like any of the Getter anime so far and I have no faith that they will do Arc justice.
