What was the point of this scene?
Hudson Torres
Tyler Garcia
To show proof Anno is a hack
Ian Murphy
it was deep and symbolic bro!
Carter Bailey
>Evangelion has amazing animation!
Do Evacucks really?
Grayson Ward
Yes
Austin Fisher
You're too stupid to understand it.
Take a look at the scene in question. Unit 01 is reminiscent of a monster, looming over the small boy gripped in its hand - a complete reversal of the first episode which portrayed angels as the monsters and Evas as the heroic defenders. The roles have been switched. Furthermore, take a gander at the prog knife stabbed into the chest of the unit. It references how Shinji's heart has been broken at Kaworu's betrayal. And lest us not forget how the whole episode Kaworu was portrayed as being "above" Shinji, he looked down on him from the rocks at their first meeting, he looked down on him when he was sitting outside and in the bath, and then again he was sitting on the upper bed during their sleepover. Now for the first time in the episode, Shinji is looking down at him while in the Eva. He is forced to utilize the power that will destroy a being who he considers superior to himself. It's all such beautiful poetry and parallelism, you are simply too stupid to understand it.
Ryan Williams
>not even a minute apart
Holy COPE and SEETHE
Parker Fisher
>he thinks every piece of eva merch was specially designed by Anno himself
what's the point of that image? that popular stuff sells and leads to the production of more stuff to sell?
Robert Cooper
Based EvaCHAD.
Ryder Price
To filter you
Logan Watson
They needed Shinji to doubt killing Kaworu but they ran out of budget, so you get a still image (like the elevator scene)
Evangelion is not deep. You're just retarded.
Xavier Ross
to filter people
limitation breeds innovation, the long stretch is a money saving measure but it was used in a meaningful way rather then shaft the production for scenes
Jackson Long
The image is making fun of pretentious Evafags like yourself
Camden Cook
Ok this is based
Jack Roberts
The creative decision may have been made out of necessity but it was still a creative decision and it still multiplies the emotional impact.
Nathaniel Williams
>but they ran out of budget
They ran out of time because Anno is an incompetent retard, not money.
Anthony Lewis
You're right. I guess scenes like the final episodes, this scene and the elevator scene show Anno's skill craft scenes, and retards not getting said scenes just shows how Evangelion is true art.
Colton Anderson
Since when is consoomers latching onto something an argument? The same happened with Haruhi too at the time. And now Madoka.
William Peterson
It wasn't incompetence, it was the sarin gas attacks forcing last-minute rewrites (and iirc, producers getting pissed off after finding out about either Toji getting injured or the Misato/Kaji implied sex scene?)
Charles Campbell
Underrated
Easton Wood
The sarin gas attacks happened before Eva even aired you fucking retard
Jayden Perry
you're just salty that your fav moeshit show doesn't have best girl flavored doritos merch
Anthony Young
>you're just salty that your fav moeshit show doesn't have best girl
Last I checked you're not in any anime, user.
Andrew Murphy
You're just like the people who think endless eight is bad. There can be multiple reasons for them deciding to do something, retard
Caleb Gomez
>you're not in any anime, user
that's right, i only play roles in the superior format that is manga
Jackson Carter
Budget saving of the best kind t b h.
Isaiah Rivera
>There can be multiple reasons for them deciding to do something, retard
>We're not animating a full minute of Shinji shivering and crying again, Anno.
>We don't have the money to keep this fucking bullshit
>OH YEAH user YOU JUST FELL INTO MY 25D CHESS TRAP HAVE YOU REALLY CAUGHT ALL MY HIDDEN MEANINGS IN THIS SCENE? NUMBER 123 WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!!!
Pick your poison
Matthew Gutierrez
Evachad-san... I bow to show respect
Nolan Moore
>Pick your poison
All of the above, faggot.
Benjamin Thomas
To save money.
Christopher Nelson
>We ran out of budget, we won't be able to animate this scene
>Oh ok, then let's leave a random non-animated scene for no reason so user will be able to call the show shit in 25 years
>Oh ok, let's think of a way to save budget in a way that makes sense metatextually speaking
Pick your poison
Hudson Price
Wow Anno is such a genius!
Jonathan Mitchell
>You're just like the people who think endless eight is bad
Endless eight had a reason
Still images in evangelion had a reason
Pointing out something got made in a cheap way and still turned out good is not a criticism, stop pretending Evangelion is a flawless masterpiece.
Christopher Barnes
my point still stands, the long scenes save on time and money
Christian White
But the only reason why they were short on time is because Anno kept fucking changing the script of the show. It's literally due to his incompetence.
Cooper Cruz
Yeah, I'm thinking it's kino.
Chase Barnes
it was to save on animation budget while seeming deep.
Thomas Thompson
Based and redpilled, OP gtfo'd
Jace Morales
You're assuming they had scenes already animated by the time he changed the script.
Justin Gomez
No, I'm saying the animators had to wait until he approved a script which gave them much less time to work on the episode
Brayden Fisher
>it was to save on animation time while being deep.
