How does Zig Forums compare to other anime discussing sites

Zig Forums retains some of the best discussion on Zig Forums among the big boards. It's also a million times better than the pleb takes you see everywhere else where people are afraid to reveal their true taste. Anonymous posting helps, but so does the board culture, which celebrates a decent spread of genres and eras as well as propping up things that were considered mediocre by the masses or would have been forgotten if not for memes.
People shit on Zig Forumscore a lot, and much of it is probably deserved but if nothing else, it serves a purpose as a crash course in essential otaku series and can help one discern their tastes. Other places simply don't retain the "western otaku"/oldfag persona the way Zig Forums has, which is why you can sort the old Usenet posts about anime and they read like modern Zig Forums.

All that said, Zig Forums is pretty shitty but that comes with the territory.

Even if you wanted to talk about anime or manga on MAL it seems to me that almost every series' forums are dead as shit. You'd only get any significant amount of discussion on their forums about the top 2 or 3 seasonal series.

Zig Forums sucks big time. It would be better if funposting were actually allowed, but it's not and because of that this board has becoming a gathering place for redditors.

As far as anime discussion goes, you could probably find better discussion on some forums than Zig Forums.

As for Zig Forums you have to surf between wojack copy-paste replies, race baiting threads, feet threads, pedo threads, etc. All of them completely unrelated to the subject of the board.
