Is there one anime that Zig Forums can agree has good writing?

No more of this "it gets bad later", an anime that has good writing start to finish. Can we name one without it turning into a massive flamewar?

Yeah it was pretty good.
I like how the base premise mixed classic detective story lines with more modern crime drama conventions in a way that worked pretty well.
It's a shame they went with standard anime villain motive #12 "Wants to use technology to save the world with great sacrifice" which is a real pokemon villain tier plot.

define "good writing".

the problem is that good writing is normally highly related to having good prose. but that's not something easy to judge for translated works of japanese origin.

I don't know what villain motive they could've gave him that wouldn't have came off as corny as fuck. It's really hard to justify killing people user

They could have, I dunno, not made the secret soft science technology out to be one of the main characters and just used it as a vehicle for the plot.
But that seems to be impossible in japan. If a super cool sci-fi thing seems to be good and useful to society, it has to secretly be made out of people and ripe for misuse. That's a law.

John Walker was too obvious, otherwise great

A large part of this community is centred around contrarianism. We'll never be able to agree on anything.

they did that so that the main plot would drive the characters into learning more about how it works and explore possibilities with it.

Kaguya-sama

Neon Genesis Evangelion

This was okay outside of John Walker honestly. Not only did they literally spell it out too early but the hints were so obvious way earlier I was doubting that no one could make something so obvious. GITS and PP are way better sci-fi detective/cop series.

Good writing is everything I like and bad writing is everything I don't like but (You) like.

What I consider "good" writing for anime, manga or LNs is something that doesn't use the same cliched phrases all the time and actually flows well. It's incredibly difficult to read a lot of manga because it's aimed at kids. Not even talking about plot holes or inconsistensies, just how the dialogue and in LNs everything between is.

Name one that has good dialogue that doesn't use the same cliched phrases. (you can't)

For me, it's Rakugo.

Pretty difficult off the top of my head but from recent series I'd say that depressed lesbian life manga and Yomawari-sensei. Most of what I read or watch nowadays is shit because I've exhausted the good stuff, or at least the good stuff that interests me.

Zig Forums is not one person.

Psycho Pass is garbage as a detective series, and even worse in the context of your complaint about ID given that PP pretty much tells you exactly who did what at the start of most cases.

The first two anime seasons of ghost in the shell are works of art and masterpieces. They're genuinely great.

can you prove it retard? I could be a bot.

Good taste.

>Rakugo
Perfection, except ruined by the ending.

Keion.

Well the antagonists in PP are set up in a way where you're usually supposed to know them, like the trio in third season. And the twist at the end was pretty good actually, considering it could've gone either way with the betrayal plot, even leaning towards the betrayal with how it was set up.

In id the antagonist is set up to be mysterious but then he's revealed too early on and the hints are too obvious, apples to oranges. Either way, PP is better overall, albeit for different reasons, if you don't count the second season.

Unironically anim@s.

Well, if we're only talking about the anime Kaiji is very very solid, a good 9/10 for sure.

You can't even get us to agree on whether we can or not.

ID : Invaded manga got canceled? That sucks.
