I think people expecting Ninomiya to be under Osamu instead of being a captain are going to be disappointed. Especially in addition to Katori. It’s just too unlikely that Osamu will have two squad captains under him for the test if one of them is Ninomiya.

I can live with either Nino or Katori. Just give me Kikuchy damn it.
Hope the next chapter reveals the details of the sorting algorithm.

The real headscratcher is people thinking Nino Katori Kitora will be a thing. It's fun for the memes but three aces is way too high when there are other support characters in the running

I expect Osamu and Nino to be teamed up with Katori as their captain.

Everyone in the last thread was saying that it's just going to be the B-rank captains leading again, but that's too obvious for Ashihara. Border wants to test B-rank leadership ability, and the mid-B rank captains who can't lead their teams to high are likely going to be seen more as agents. There's also going to be bias in the captains to T2/Nino considering their spots are more assured.

Captains: Osamu, Yuma, Hyuse, Nino, Inukai, Ouji, Yuba, Murakami, Mizukami, Ema or Zoe, and probably an odd-ball like Okudera or Urushima

I can't help but feel that Osamu's getting Katori and Azuma in his group, since I think having Azuma as a captain defeats the purpose of the test and Border HQ wants to see how Osamu uses Azuma while managing Katori. The last member is probably going to be someone unexpected/not on his list, maybe a Sasamori or one of Zaki's kids. The nino hint is going to be relevant later, they'll have more than enough time to talk on the ship and Ashihara's not going to miss his chance to have Osamu mingle with the rest of the cast. Operator is probably a mid-B operator so that we can see him working with them and exploring operator possibilities, something we don't see with a more established one.

Kitora's going to end up with Chika so we can get the two of them reflecting on Osamu, Hyuse is going to end up with all the goofballs (ikoma, taichi, kai?), Yuma gets with the rest of his bros that aren't captaining.

Who ends up with Suwa?

This would be too good to happen. The two of them hamming it up on terrain tactics and brainstorming multiple ways to screw their opponents over without getting seen would be my fantasy Border squad dreams come true.

Nasu is going to take part then? Looked up with Kuma for a week, umm.

I didn't see Nasu in the orientation room with Kuma for some reason. Maybe she's too fragile to last the entire expedition.

Maybe I was just really into the start of a brand new arc, but it felt like a double length chapter going through it the first time.

I was wondering why the fuck the kid and his giant mascot pet were allowed to casually be there for the large scale invasion briefing.

It only makes sense that they want to have people who are already captains continue being captains for the expedition, rather than fish around hoping to find leadership talent from those who might not even want to lead.

There’s little reason for them to put random agents in as captains. If they wanted to be captains, they should have formed their own squads already. On the away mission itself, they’re unlikely to to assign one of these random agents as a captain either. So testing random agents as captains will be of little benefit compared to testing the established captains with agents they aren’t used to working with.

Hyuse captain will be a fucking mess, dude is insuferable

This isnt JUST the away test, its much broader apparently. Fomenting leadership skills and decision making is something Border would be interested for any agent

Several agents would be fine caps, they are simply kept down by their already established team captains.

Jotaro is weirdly kept as a mascot/comedic relief while doing nonsensical funny hijinks and he has impressive screentime for a large portion of the manga despite doing fuck all for the plot until Hyuse joined. Now we know it wasnt nonsensical at all

Hopefully Border is picking potentially good captains with a high Command stat and not just picking agents at random. The latter would be straight up unfair to those who are fine combatants but legitimately couldn't lead a team out of a paper bag.

Not much actually happened it was simply a set up chapter for the incoming arc, which is perfectly fine
Its a significant departure from the huge agressive plot developments and reveals we got with Galo and Yotaro a second ago, so it feels very barebones

I mean there are quite a few captains with just passing command, only really holding the position cause they are powerhouses, like Yuba

Who do you think will have the worst time in the week long ship lockdown part of the exam?
We talked quite a bit about the endurance combat part, but not so much about the ship.
Its very long, and its a decidedly psychological test.
Hyuse will probably do very poorly if he gets a group were he doesnt mesh

Easily Kage if he gets paired with even one person who hates his guts. Hopefully there's a forfeit button in the ship somewhere.
Everyone else seems professional enough to endure a one week camping session except Katori.

Withdrawn and shy characters will do badly if they are suddendly cut from their support groups.
Ema, Chika even Hyuse as you mentioned, wont have a good time unless they have at least 1 friend around. Agressive types like Kageura are also on thin ice

Getting along isnt enough, its a test, and Border is gonna throw them emergencies to break everyone nerves, its definitely not gonna be a chill vacation inside the ship

Border as a whole seems supportive enough to not let nicer people like Chika and Ema succumb to that.
It's a different story if the proctors decide to simulate a surprise ship malfunction or Neighbor ambush to see how they react under pressure.

This, cabin fever is the main enemy. Border will be actively seeking to put as much stress on everyone as possible
