I really find it odd that Reddit doesn't take any queue from Zig Forums at all.. I mean most of the memes here are just that..memes. Really goes to show how communities are so fucking gated on the internet, there is no reason it should be so split you know?

I was on reddit since 2014 and heard about Zig Forums in roughly 2018. Looked around and thought it was degenerate as fuck. Came back in late 2019 and saw the light. This place has taught me more through critical thinking than anything I've learned on reddit. You learn to filter through the memes and bullshit on here to truly discover reality in a sense. It teaches you to actually think for yourself, and not only that, but you begin to be able to see through what people are saying, what their motives are, and how it relates to the situation being discussed. Reddit still has a place, but I will always be grateful to Zig Forums, I've learned so much more here, although through unconventional ways, once you see it and experience the magic, there is no going back.

That and the fact that 1) anyone can fork a discussion board 2) anyone can be a shit-tier mod on these boards mean that things further turn into echo chambers beyond just the reddit system of upboats.
To be fair though, not all subreddits on reddit are "reddit". I don't use any of them, but WSB seems to be much more akin to Zig Forums. And then of course there were the banned subreddits like coontown. Even r/the_donald was actually based at the very beginning when it was actually just a Zig Forums colony.
