I remember watching this shit when I was a senior in hs and stopped after episode 12. I didn't fucking know it took off, got better, got popular, famous, had a series finale in the cell saga, and fucking died.

It was great when I was 14, but things took a nosedive after the Frieza saga. Because they got really full of themselves and tried to make a dub with extra-quips. Also they kept calling random things sexist and pushing that "Goku is abusive" joke.
Thought it was fine. The humor remained consistent, which was never particularly high brow in the first place. That and you're set against the pacing of the Android into the Cell Saga which is weaker than Namek-Ginyu-Frieza.
Peaked at the "Make a Man out of You" parody.
Glad they stayed somewhat out of the realm of political jokes. Worst they got was calling goku orange and saying how 16 would love to punch his punchable face. was a dumb orange man bad joke but they are crazy leftist.

It peaked at Namek, went on a full downgrade in Cell saga. People are defending it by saying the humor "matured", I told them that no it was just shit humor in a nice way.
Priddy gud. Should've done the Boo Saga too, but they decided to betray what made them big so they can get recognized as a "serious dubbing company" in the industry. Once again greed ruins something good.
Around the time of the Cell Games they stopped being an "Abridged" series, and more of a fandub with shitty jokes and swears thrown in every once in a while. They started taking themselves too seriously and tried to "improve" the series. Very embarassing to watch really

Damn straight. Because WTS had comedic timing and consistently funny jokes. It's why even his non DBZ parodies like Rapeman and FoTNS are fucking legendary.

Pretty bad at the beginning. Much better with some time. Total shit when it turned into a glorified fandub.
It's a good thing an enormous amount of work is put into editing abridged animu, or the amount of imitators would basically have ruined dubs by making forced comedy the new standard.
The one thing I appreciated is that while they failed to make Goku a country bumpkin, he's as stupid as the character is meant to be. Never liked how Funi and Schemmel portrayed him as generic action man.
It reached a peak during season 2, became less funny but had better writing during the android saga and became an unfunny fandub as soon as perfect cell was introduced.
