No idea, like the other user said there's a bunch chapters before the manga ended. Not counting the side stories and extras though.
But I found it really curious how he dropped it just one chapter before the mermaid was introduced. That and the fact that the manga ended a just like 5 chapters after it.
Maybe he hated the yurishit tone she brought to the manga, it was needless.
