Best Decade

This truly was the best decade for anime, you can pick any seasonal that aired back then and it will be entertaining and so much better than the hot garbage that airs now. So many good shows in a decade, how the fuck did they do it?

Attached: best_decade.png (929x430, 10.53K)

by not releasing 50 fucking anime every season, 10's is easily the worst decade by ratio, even 1970's is better than the last decade

>old good new bad

>10's is easily the worst decade by ratio
Speaking as somebody who's watched at least 200-800 anime per decade (excluding the 1970s, only watched 48 anime from that decade), this is objectively false.

Please don't drag a decade as great at the 2000s into your reddit-tier OLD GOOD NEW BAD shitposting.

>you can pick any seasonal that aired back then and it will be entertaining
lol

>OLD GOOD NEW BAD shitposting.
How else can you spell it out when is it just plain true?
>lol
You know it's true though, even SoL tier shows were better

>as a turboweeb autist with no standards...
10s shitters everyone

Mid-90's to mid-00's was the best.

Liking older anime just for the sake of them being old anime doesn't make you an interesting person.
>even SoL tier shows were better
>even SoL tier
What's this supposed to mean?

It you view it as a ratio of good shows to bad shows I'd say he's correct; the mid-late 2010's were inflated by tons of shitty, low-effort, low-budget LN or mobage adaptations that were funded purely to advertise the source material.

I've always felt that the actual decades are shit indicators for anime because the actual major artstyle transition points are always in the middle of the decade.

95-05
85-95
05-15
75-85

If we wanted to be anal we should do it in 5 year increments but 85-90 and 95-00 will be joint first anyway so who cares.

>when I was a kid that discovered anime for the first time is the best

>85-90 and 95-00 will be joint first anyway
The difficulty is comparing OVAs, Movies, and TV shows. I'd argue that 85-90 was excellent for OVAs and movies and not so great for TV shows, while 95-00 was excellent for TV shows and perhaps not quite as great for OVAs and movies.

Unironically speaking, the worst era for anime is 1990-1994. Not even the latter half of the 2010s is as bad as that period. If you think commercialism is bad now, just look into how back it was in the early 90s after the economic bubble collapsed how studios were forced to shit out low-effort glorified toy commercials to pander to children or ecchi OVAs to pander to otaku to stay afloat. Not to mention that TV anime animation in the 90s on average suffered more than any decade that came before or after.
I've found myself dropping more 90s anime than any other decade.

I discovered anime in 2007. What do you think was the best time period, then?

how bad it was*

00chads don’t care about your retarded shitflinging, stick to posting about the 80s and 90s

>Liking older anime just for the sake of them being old anime doesn't make you an interesting person.
Don't project, I never said that because If that were the case I would just say pre 2000's.
>What's this supposed to mean?
That even overall plotless shows like Pokan or Kamichu were miles better than their today equivalent.

That period had some really good OVAs and movies though which pumps up its reputation.

Some really good OVAs and movies doesn't stop it for being a terrible era on average. That would be like me using something like Concrete Revolutio to justify the latter half of the 2010s.

>in 2040 kids will be saying the 20's was the best time for anime

70s to late90s/early 00s at best.
But let me say that there were a lot of dogshit productions throughout those decades, especially in the 90s, that can't hold a candle to some stuff that is being produced nowadays, and it's always better to argumentate a bit other than just stating what decade(s) is the best.

>, you can pick any seasonal that aired back then and it will be entertaining and so much better than the hot garbage that airs now.
Ah yes, Geneshaft. Truly a masterpiece.

To me it feels like 10s start with 2012 and 00s with 2002. Stuff from 2000 and 2001 still sorta looks like it was made in 90s; and big titles from 2010-2011 still feel like they belong to the end of 00s.

Sure, new IP OVAs boost 85-95 but after Evangelion there was a big original TV anime investment from 95-05 (and OVA's were dying outside Gainax). Outside the 85-05 TV/OVA/movie originality zone you're left with either bad TV anime with a few exceptions prior to that or poor-to-great quality TV adaptations and alright movies after that.

waiting for that one guy who always says "everyone knows how atrocious and shit the 00s were" to appear.

anyways for me, its not that I hate the 2010s at all, but I prefer 00s anime personally. Also I wish more anime got 2-cours

I quite liked that show. Decent ideas, and solid late-90's animation although with CGI closer to the early-00's (it came out in 2001). It would probably have been better if it were longer though.

trends come and go but classics stay

Which, granted, picking a 20 year stretch of "the good shit" and saying the current stretch is second best is lame and goalpost-y but it is what it is.

To me the defining feature of the early 10's (which kind of started in the late 00's, but never mind) was the move from VN adaptations and magic real-life LNs to school battle harem LN adaptations, and then cheap, mass-produced LN adaptations in general culminating in the isekai boom.

best depictition of being forced to rely on a janky prototype technology that desperately needs years of debugging.

00s > late 90s > early 10s > late 70s > 80s > late 10s = early 90s > early 70s

better than RE ZERO

We could have had a good 2000s thread but you just had to include
> so much better than the hot garbage that airs now
Any hope of good 2000s discussion is gone now, dumbass.

Imagine a week-long crunch with no breaks or sleep while an incredibly high-pitched loli ojou-sama and her creepy voodoo doll constantly shriek at you. Oh and if you fail your ship gets blown up by enemy action and you all die.

Galaxy Angel was great, especially the first season where it seemed like they just randomly threw characters together each episode to see how they'd work things through. It made each episode feel really unique. I'm not too keen on the "unresolved" endings they had in the later series though.

What's your worst decade then?
Honestly interested.

I can’t take anyone seriously when they use some of the most popular contemporary titles as boogiemen

If Reddit:Zero is all that comes to mind when you think of the 2010s, you really need to watch more anime.

Early 2000s when they were just starting to get into digital is the ugliest shit

You know I was joking when I said back then that people would look upon the 2000s of anime fondly and nostalgically just like how people do for the 90s and 80s. I didn't think it would actually happen

>le watch more anime meme

you know you've gotten old when nostalgiafags are hanging around the 2000's

I'm interested to see if this claim holds up. I have 1990-1994 charts

Attached: 1990.jpg (1250x1855, 815.54K)

Nostaglia is generally inevitable. I'm nostalgic about mid-00's dating sim / VN adaptations for instance, even though they're almost all badly animated tripe.

Same guy you responded to. 1990s.
For me, the best decades are as follows (based on my experience
2000s > 1980s > 2010s > 1970s > 1990s
I've dropped more 90s anime (ratio-wise) than any other decade.
1970s would probably be higher than 2010s if we only counted 1977-1979, though, but this period seems more like a transition into the early 1980s.

Attached: 1604812052857.jpg (1280x720, 431.45K)

I largely agree but I disagree because in 2000, anime almost immediately went digital in that year and there is a marked difference between 1999 and like 2001 in terms of what was being put out

Just shut up man

I doubt many anons have even seen more than 2 or 3 shows on any of these charts at most

>you can pick any seasonal that aired back then and it will be entertaining and so much better than the hot garbage that airs now.
I could think of a bunch of late 00s shows that were pretty crap, especially late considering how underwhelming 2008-2010 felt in comparison to previous years

Attached: 1994.jpg (1160x2160, 743.51K)

>Also I wish more anime got 2-cours
The worst part about the 2010s is the large amount of anime that gets produced.
It would be so much healthier if we had only half as much anime, but with a larger budged or more episodes.
Even mobage adaptions can be fun if you put effort into it.

Holy fuck the early 90s are unrecognizable.
