I have read a lot of manga and watched a lot of series and believe me when I say that I have never seen something like this, where a big part of the fandom is strongly against to a idea/theory/analysis that could potentially be true.
People just don’t want Eren to be the father and they will search and find any excuse to deny it, fresh example is just the last chapter, “Historia is going to die, it’s a premature birth” “the baby in the rumbling is the one in the last panel” “look at the farmer he’s praying for Historia he’s definitely the father”
Same people that “believed” Grisha was the one in the final panel, same people who believed Historia’s pregnancy was to protect herself now are wishing for her death, this is the amount of negatively this ship does to the fandom and it’s not only because the ship itself.
If Eren is the father then he’s the one in the last panel, if he’s the one in the final panel then he “wins” if he wins then the alliance didn’t stop him and probably died trying and so on...
Basically EH being canon will destroy a popular ship and will also create an ending that most people don’t like.

I want to ask something as someone whose convinced Eren’s the father of Historia’s baby, what’s the purpose of Mikasa’s character in the manga? She had no arc focused on her, any interesting plot she might have like the Hizuru thing is ignored by the author and there’s nothing going for her other than the Eren obsession. In contrast Historia, whos’s most likely the mother of Eren’s kid, had an arc focused on her and has things going for her other than Eren. Why was this character even created? How was the author ok with treating his heroine like this? Why did the author never try with her?
