In most games endgame tanks can make do with shitty healers but endgame healers can't keep shitty tanks alive.
it's really simple. shitty tanks can get themselves killed too quick for even the best healer in the game but good tanks have a lot of ways to reduce incoming damage to the point where they might be able to extend their lifespan long enough to survive the fight even with a shitty healer.

Depends on the game desu. I've seen a game where tanks are absolutely useless since it's really easy to dodge attacks and healers provide enough healing over time to make tanking useless.

It also depends on how much the game focuses on aggro tools. Guild Wars is focused on small parties (8 players 95% of the time, with a few areas with 12 or 16), and there are no abilities that directly manipulate enemy "hate". So while tanking strats are possible with careful pulling in certain areas, under normal circumstances there is no dedicated tank.

I always had a lance on my tank to farm alone, fuck being a dps fag or healer.
