I read over vol 9 today and fuck I can't believe there's so much "it used to be better". The paneling in Aki's snowball fight especially was some of the most evocative I've seen from Fuji's manga. Oftentimes he has impressive ideas that serve to make the manga flow better or have more impact, but in that fight we got to see a lot of his creativity come out to directly influence the emotions of the chapter

Unironically yes. Well executed battle shonen are incredible to read and KnY was exactly that the whole way through. It's a complete series that stays at the quality of Land of Waves and isn't a dragged out, nonsensical, convoluted mess like every other shonen.

It's whatever because at least we get spoilers, but csm has done nothing but take a fat fucking shit on this board

Yeah, exactly. Sales and popularity polls are definitely not the marks of quality. That's like saying Kira Yamato is the best anime character ever because he consistently topped popularity polls for years and Gundam Seed Destiny is a masterpiece because it sold extremely well. Not saying CSM is bad now, but still, all the talk about numbers and sales is useless.

i believe the problem was the weekly release so, i will retract of my opinion when i read it in the vol.

Honestly sales isn't a sure sign of quality. There are other things that affect sales like the author's name, promotion, etc. even scandal like what happened to act-age can improve sales

My conclusion is, i won't say a manga, novel and movie is good based on sales only. But i definitely can say a book, movie or manga that sell well, is atleast "competent". as long as they don't suffer a sudden drop of sales

It's true the gun devil fight for being built up so much cut away too quickly, and I think the transition to the gun fiend was just a bit awkward, but the gun fiend bit as short as it was complimented the rest of the buildup chapters pretty perfectly. You have a great buildup and ultimately a bait and switch where you realize Makima is the endgame, not gun like we were lead to believe. That quick jump from gun's fucking great introduction to Makima's phone call with Denji really solidifies this. The chapters work together much better than it seemed taken a week apart from each other

Agreed, Gun should have been as long as Bomb. Some of the individual chapters in the middle were cool, but we needed more build-up for the trio and a few more scenes of the more important characters like Angel and Kishibe.

i really expect Makima using Kishibe and Kobeni for something since we don't know their contracts, maybe they are the 2 riders that we need to know yet.
