There is no way that the success of KNY is mainly attributed to Ufotable. They have adapted plenty of other things but none of them can even compare to the success of KNY.

It's such a big hit because they somehow hit the elusive all-ages female demographic as well as much of the male shounenshit audience. How this happened I do not know. No one knows or else others would do the same.
As I said before, one of the reasons I like Kiemetsu is because the protag isn't a cringy fuck so I can say I like this anime in public because Tanjiro is decent always. Now if the main character was Zenitsu, I would have a hard time getting people to check this out.
Nah.
The manga was mediocre until the anime.
It's just cope by people who hate that KnY outpaced literally everything else.
>Now if the main character was Zenitsu, I would have a hard time getting people to check this out.
Opinion discarded.
why didn't the other stuff ufo adapted blow up like this?
Because it's very inoffensive while being competently straightforward. That and ufotable just properly adapted it. A lot of shounen out there are either trying way too hard while still being generic or end up being complete slogs.
Wan Pissubros, if Wan Piss was adapted by Ufotable it would be a global hit instead of declining sales
You are just proving my point. I didn't say I don't like Zenitsu, but he only works and is liked because he's a side character. If you were exposed to him for more time you'd get your usual whiny shonen protag and with so many of those existing, that's already a turn off for many.
How is the ending? Maybe I should read it
I don't read ongoing shonen for obvious reasons
It's fine. Nothing great but there's no retarded twists so everything that happens is close to what you would've expected.
it was alright.
Yeah, cos it's one of the recent works with their perfected style. Fate doesn't even need to be mentioned as it's already so big. Watch ufotable get jerked off by every mainstream shit in a few years, mark my words.
ehh, it happened i guess
It was an absolute bore.
The final boss was disapointing as hell.
At least the Samurai spider was worth reading throuhg

What do you think about Emma from The Promised Neverland as a protagonist? She is defintantly quite well liked.
And has won character polls. Source: thepromisedneverland wiki

Emma is dumb and promised neverland is dumb too
I've never read or watch that but does she have ear destroying screams like Zenitsu? If she doesn't, she's also a girl, and that changes stuff in the eyes of a viewer.
KnY is a pretty good manga and the anime is solid with fantastic animation, it's overall a very well made shounen, but why its had such resounding success (more in Japan but also worldwide) I couldn't put my finger on. Just the luck of the draw I'd say, one of those shows that just hit all the right buttons at the right time - most importantly: fujo shipperfags.
I don't hate her but pic related ruined her for me forever. I get her but the way it's presented is shit.
>wsj, ez big 3 shonen marketing, demographic that is also fujo
>a-ok story
>ufotable
no competition
I was thinking about this earlier because despite JJK surely becoming a big hit due to the anime, I don’t think it could reach KNY levels, even if Ufotable adapted it. KNY has such a broad appeal that it somehow reaches every demographic.
Not sure how often this point is mentioned but KNY’s aesthetic is a huge selling point. Characters being color-coded by traditional Japanese textile patterns is just insanely marketable. You can sell anything like this.
It wasn't even that popular even when the manga was nearing the end, this was right after Kokushibou was killed, when episode 19 dropped that's when everyone tried to check out the series. The anime had a big part in the success it has now for better or for worse
they did though, fate sells like crazy, shonen jump simply gives you even more following
fate was already huge.
It was the first time since they became popular that they animated something that wasn't shit. They had been doing only Fate and game adaptions and now they suddenly did a Shounen Jump property that already had 10m sales and hit a particular sweet spot for Japanese audiences. They displayed that sweet spot to the masses and that created a snowball effect which we're still seeing.
The ridiculous sales are still surprising despite that. Even doubling sales would've been impressive but it's literally done around 8x its initial sales since the anime started which is insane.
they did toriko ova before this btw
It's fair to point out that Kimetsu is set on somewhat traditional Japan (Most battle? shonen is set on modern day) and that "Japanese mythology/folklore" being a main focus is mega appealing to the Japanese and overseas. For example, how overseas think fox masks are cool.
It did so good because of the west.
It's extremely popular here, it helps its not really offensive, politically correct and no real creepy shit
Taisho isn't really a traditional period but it has an incredibly good aesthetic. It's a perfect mix between modern and traditional. It's the time of change which compliment the story.
