best anime ever

What's the scientific explanation for all old anime being boring?

it only sucks if you watch in chronological order

>today standards
You mean the standards that Haruhi itself set?

zoomer syndrome

Anime is degeneracy. Degeneracy doesn't age well because new degeneracy makes the old degeneracy seem vanilla by comparison.

I don't get that, if it's good it's good.

That 10 minute scene of Yuki reading silently in the club room still holds a special place in my heart.

Try comparing the first episode against first episodes of average LN adaptations and say that again.

You were saying?

she is gross

no it does

a overrated anime...

...

All of it isn't boring. But Haruhi is relatively so, since it was trend setter of premise where a guy gets coaxed into a school club with bunch of cute girls. Later shows that did same thing refined the idea, so Haruhi won't necessarily hold up to those.
That's not to say that it's shit. It's still enjoyable, and there's plenty of worse school club series that came afterwards, some even made by KyoAni themself.

but disappearance

Should I read the LN?

>Later shows that did same thing refined the idea
That doesn't really apply. What shows inspired by Haruhi "refined" the idea?

Honestly, Haruhi is marginally better than the vast majority of its LN successors simply by merit of how it's written. It was created right at the threshold period where LNs started to become walking trope factories and hadn't yet become infected with all the bullshit associated with the medium today, so from a "modern" perspective it seems to be able to afford doing different stuff and playing around with tone more than your usual garbage.

>Later shows that did same thing refined the idea
This is such a retarded nothing statement, just because a show comes up with an idea and has that idea copied, doesn't mean that it didn't happen to also do that idea the best. Like what the fuck are you gonna say that like RahXephon is better than Evangelion cause it had a similar premise and came out after Evangelion? Like no, Haruhi was just actually the best of these types of shows there's a reason everyone tried to copy it after it came out.

yep

maybe but that ass holds up by today's standards

Not all old anime are boring tho. Classic mecha and super robot shows can stand up to modern standards.
Haruhi was the perfect storm of teenage comedy drama led by lolsorandom perfectly drawn god girl aimed at budding millenials when anime culture was booming worldwide. It was released at the right time for the right demographic.
With anime becoming more commonplace all over the world, the novelty of Haruhi wore off and people start noticing that it's all style and no substance

>praising classic super robot shows
>dissing style over substance
I don't know what would be more laughable, you being a hypocrite or seriously believing those 70s morning cartoons had substance.

I agree. Anons like it because it is cool for anons to like it.

With the number of times I've seen people unironically recommend watching it in the wrong order, I can't believe that it's not OP's own dumbass fault for thinking it's boring.

absolutely not

dumb ESL

Hard no

Broadcast or fuck off

no its just shit
