But i hope for the future, the recent trends make me think japs are starting to get sick and tired of Goku-Luffy like characters.

One of them is crying cuck and another one is simp. Say whatever you want about Asta and Tanjiro but they never fapped to their bullies.
They are rather on par with previous generation.

I don't know about "better" but I i quite like Asta and Tanjiro (especially him).
Deku on the other had seems like a failed at creating a kind and relatable MC.
I don't read CSM so I know nothing about Denji.

The current protags have lamer character designs (with the exception of Denji’s awakened chainsaw man form, which is pretty nice), that’s for sure.

Instead of whining and waiting for a cheat skill power up he just fucking lifted until he got jacked. That alone puts him above most of SJ's modern lineup (Not that that's a high bar).
