Example: episode 5 after getting their powers sealed away in ep.4 they Are hurried in the mole rat den. So far 10 minutes of just gasping and eye panning shots while the girl recites the sealing technique for no real reason then it just works again. Context?

Context is provided, there will be exposition dumps and big secrets.

Fucking when? 5 episodes with 0 context is a lot since the characters are especially annoying. Like the anime feels artificially bloated to 24 eps at this point. It should have been 12 with less dumb shots and more context

SSY is not bad or good. it exists on an axis orthogonal to both.

The problem is that it's adapted from a novel so it's paced to fit that rather than a TV show.

The pacing (Mainly early on) is atrocious and Shin's character (As well as his arc) could be totally removed with no majors implications on the plot.

The anime is fine, though.

Some episodes have really shit animation. Like the one where they are in the caves. The 4-5 episodes that were before it had good animation and character designs though. I think it's decently pretty series when it doesn't shit the bed. The OST is also quite good.
