this, it's a cool premise, but unless you have some serious writing chops a story about being quite literally born wrong wont cut it with a weak protagonist.

It was obviously a story with a clearly defined end goal, but once it got popular and merch started flying off shelves it was put on narrative stasis for the rest of eternity.

The best part is how Hori keeps throwing power ups at the kid. He has four quirks already and he's not even a second year student

Eh I'd argue it was obvious there never was an end goal. Like initially you'd think Hori would deconstruct what it means to be a hero with his classmates giving different point of views and conflicts naturally arising, but it's really obvious it's just going to be another villain of the weak manga with no end

Like hori is ending this last fight by having the villains just teleport away so literally no one wins

He becomes really unlikable in the last season so far of the anime and I don't think it was intentional. He already had some bad moments before (I cheered when Lida punched him and I tend to HATE these scenes) but god, he has become an annoying, melodramatic faggot.

It's amazing how much better vigilante is without him.

He's been an absolute retard this last arc. Charging headfirst at shiggy like a fucking idiot and putting OFA at risk. His true quirk is how the plot continues to save his ass with convenient bullshit.

I like how the way to unlock more quirks from OFA is to put yourself in a life or death situation and the quirk will just shit out the quirk that is best suited for the situation you are in

He's just a generic shonen protag. I don't mean generic as in similar to protags in the biggest, most well-known titles but the genre as a whole, the myriad series that were forgotten as soon as they ended. He offers nothing interesting or unique.
The end was defined at one point, but it feels like it was always meant to be the obligatory, bloated series that would go on until the mangaka retires/fucks up his wrist or back. Not to mention that the original end was already scrapped and repurposed for a shitty movie so now who the fuck knows how much of the story is currently planned out.

They gave up on actually pacing it briskly and developing a story before the end of the second volume.

Mind you I'm not defending Deku at the slightest. He is a shit character. But WSJ has a fucking history of over 50 years to look back on. Picking Deku out of that lot and putting him on a pedestal is giving him more credit than he deserves, and is just the usual Zig Forums hivemind circlejerk of what's hip to hate currently.

He's just a normal shonen mc. Not particularly great, but not particularly terrible either.
Hell, if anything he's pretty realistic in how he gave up on his dream and waited until All Might noticed him. People hate him for that but most teenagers would do the same.

No matter how much the writer wants you to believe he's a smart kid he always just falls back on "punch harder".

And no matter how heroic he's said to be there seems to be no difference between him and any other male worth a damn in his class or any working pro. ALL the heroes are heroic AF.

So ... he's pretty lame. I'm waiting for w/e ass pull they have to save his arms now.
