A 10/10 Masterpiece from start to finish. The greatest anime ending, best characters and most interesting plot, setting and concept. Still holds up on my 20th rewatch. No matter how much you seethe, you can't change this fact.

Terrible writing with frequent pants-on-head retarded moments, a bloated cast of annoying schizophrenic characters, terrible artstyle that ignores colour theory, sound design ruins entire scenes, and to top it all off there's the worst use of a school setting in the history of anime.
It started strong, has a great first OP and I liked the concept and setting of a colonised Japan, CC's ass is great but not even that can save this overrated shit.

And as far plot holes go, nothing in R2 can top off the still unexplained mass teleportation of Lulu, Suzaku, Kallen & Euphy from Shikinejima to Kaminejima that also happened in R1.

Oh dear I'd forgotten that. I'm guessing there was some sort of Geass magic explanation that they ditched along with Suzaku's catatonia in the ruins when the time slot moved for R2.

I couldn't believe how dumb this was on my first watch. That was when it became clear Code Geass got more entertaining the less you thought about it. Fun ride, but god damn is it a mess.

I agree user. I absolutely LOVE code geass and i have always re-watched it with someone who hasn't seen it before. Hearing them experience it for the first time always brings me back.

I also love Akito too. It was great and one of the best 3D animation i've seen for Mecha's.

Suzaku's case was actually somewhat explained in the R1 itself. At that point he was till recovering from the mindrape courtesy of C.C. at Narita and Mao's refresher course on his patricide. This compounded by the fact that they were caught in some bizarro Geass-traps planted by V.V. who's shown smirking when that happens. Potential relapse under those conditions is logical since it wasn't until Euphy's private call during the Chink invasion that Suzaku's mental issues were sorted out.

As for the teleportation, closest thing towards explanation it ever got was C.C. talking with either Marianne or V.V. about it in R1, but as the actual method was left out it remains an unexplained asspull without equal
