Beggars can't be choosers

Ego or ad revenue.

Mangadex bends over backwards for scanlators thinking it will do anything and not just out them as a doormat.

Yeah, they should just upload the chapters and ignore what the scan groups one. All other sites do it so idk why they care so much.

So they can get ad views on the website.

Mangadex is still alive because it bends knees to both scanlators and publishers. It would have been dead long ago if it featured ads. Ofcourse guys like paulbunyan are exceptions.

Also, groups releasing half a chapter at a time. I'm guessing it's for money.

Scanlators are huge fags, how have you not noticed this yet?

WAHHHH WAHHHH WORK FOR FREEE WAHHHH

How the fuck does bending to scanlators keep mangadex alive? The only reason other sites got shut down was because of the publishers.

Are scanlators being paid during the delay they've arbitrarily set up?

scanlating is not a real job, it's stealing somebody else's content and making it more easily available globally out of your own good will. If you go into it expecting to get paid for it, you are an idiot.

>Not using Night
disgusting, enjoy your seared retnas

It’s still someone working on something you are enjoying for free, so learn japanese or deal with it you frothing baboons.

just use a different scraper site?

If you expect something more than people's gratitude for your job, better quit while you're ahead.

Scanlators would stop uploading to mangadex, there'd be no real way to track all the scanlation groups. They might try to make an alternative but unless the moderators/owners listen to them the same thing will repeat. There might be thousands of discord servers right now who don't upload/stopped uploading to mangadex. Tracking every scanlators is next to impossible if there's no trail like a website.

Mangaupdates has existed for that since before MD and it will still be around after MD is gone.

It's not the scanlators that are exclusively uploading. Any member can download from the scanlators site & upload to MD.

I follow 150+ titles, so I don't really give a shit. More time to read the other stuff.

fat chance too many groups only have an md page

No one but you said anything about money user

Not true. Most of the chapters are uploaded by volunteer members. They get a "Power Uploader" rank once they upload at least 500 chapters.

Yep and if the scanlators lock themselves up with no site and public discord server that is no way to track them, you wouldn't be able to access their releases. Some guy tried uploading a recent paulbunyan release to mangadex but since he is active, he took it down. There could be some people scanlating your favorite untranslated manga and sharing among themselves which they wouldn't upload to mangadex or make them trackable.

Please quote the exact place where money is mentioned, thanks.

The whole point of scanlating is to get an audience for the manga, so locking themselves up would be pointless. And those who want to scanlate for a small group anyway wouldn't upload to MD so I don't get how that would help.

Yeah but those are already released chapters available on every aggregator sites. I'm taking about newer releases. For example, I'm in paulbunyan's discord server and he updates titles like skip to loafer and only makes them available to the dico members and then later posts on reddit. There might be tons of group doing the same while also never uploading them anywhere.

>The whole point of scanlating is to get an audience for the manga
Not anymore.

Paulbunyan was able to remove his uploads only because mangadex gave him the power to. But all deleted chapters are stored in their servers. They can bring it back up anytime.

What then? Even those profit-oriented groups can't get donations without an audience.

>paulbunyan
Is he still translating Super Cub? That's the only one by him that I'm interested in.

I get it when a group with a proper site does it, ad revenue and all that but why do groups who only release on mangadex to begin with do it as well?

Ego

If it’s a short delay, it’s usually to check releases within MD’s reader before they’re public. If it’s a long delay, it’s usually to drive traffic to their site to read it there first. Think 24 hours or over.

>only release on mangadex
>to their site
What did he mean by this.

>There might be thousands of discord servers right now who don't upload/stopped uploading to mangadex.
I'm really sick of this. Discord ruined the Internet by allowing anyone to create their own private circlejerk. It's resulted in the web being splintered into a million different communities (kind of like they were back when forums were dominant), but all hosted on the same platform where you need an invite to participate. It's like the worst of both worlds.

I meant in general. Groups that have long delays despite only releasing on MangaDex are few in number and will always be an enigma.

I can guarantee you that there is pretty much no one that scanlates without uploading it to some sort of other service where it becomes available to a wider audience. Even releases of people that went full mental like paulbunyan can still be found with ease. Discord just replaced IRC as communication tool
