So whats the consensus on where the first season of an anime would leave off? I say Katana Man arc would make sense climax wise and if they're going by two or three chapters an episode.

That doesn't really make sense to me. Whether her lying about the movies( if it's true at all) equaling no affection for him, which sounds like a giant leap of logic, nor whether she was lying just because she wants bad movies to be gone. I mean, Denji didn't like those movies either.
It was worth it in the end because of that one superb movie, but that doesn't mean you want to go necessarily see shitty movies.

i'd rather they just plow through the story as quickly as possible because you know it's only gonna get 1 or 2 seasons. i'd like to see the end of bomb arc for season 1 and the revival of chainsaw man for season 2. the cliffhanger would hopefully open up for a possible season 3

Infinity Devil afterparty would make the most sense to me. Particularly the scene where Makima gives Denji the chupa chups.

I think it's up in the air whether she lied in the cinema chapter or in this one. She either does have a soft spot, or she chose to appear as if she was human to manipulate Denji.

The one movie that Makima liked is relevant to her weakness.

Depends on how you want to read it. You can say she doesn't want to wade through tonnes of bad movies to get to the good one, so she'd rather just skip to the good one immediately. Her fight with CSM soured her on the whole "journey is the best part" spiel because the conclusion was less than satisfying, whereas for Denji it was worth wading through all those bad movies because he got a reaction from Makima, but also worth being shit on by her because...I don't know, he got to talk to her for real? Their "fight" is obviously not over yet, so Denji will probably feel it was all worth it for whatever the conclusion may be. It's also their views on life, Makima wants to delete everything she doesn't like so there will only be good stuff, Denji wants the bad stuff to stay too because they're part of life. I may be babbling for nothing, I'm no Denji or Makima expert.
