Can someone explain to me why there aren't more shows like this? Why is everything these days being exclusively produced for mentally stunted manchildren?

Blame the moeshitters.

Because most people aren't interested in watching boring shit they don't care about to look smart

I don't even mind there being moeblob shows, but it seems to be all that's left now.

Even the animators say they like watching/drawing shit for mentally stunted manchildren.

Because no one has the balls to fund risky shit nowadays. Even back in the 2000s, the only person who was consistently willing to take risks on shows that were out there was Masao Maruyama and now he's not doing much

>tfw we truly are at the end of the raging road and starlit sky.

Because Texhnolyze? More like Texhnosnooze.

>Can someone explain to me why there aren't more shows like this?
It doesn't make money.
>Why is everything these days being exclusively produced for mentally stunted manchildren?
It makes money.

>Why is everything these days being exclusively produced for mentally stunted manchildren?
you mean like texhnolyze?

They aren't. Try actually looking at what's being made instead of just guessing.

Who dis? Abe?

It says chiaki konaka right there

You should probably look up how well that show did financially to answer your question

>but it seems to be all that's left now.
Not only has that never been right, you're just more proof not enough people are watching Akudama Drive

>Who dis? Abe
>The name is literally right there in English

>Why is everything these days being exclusively produced for mentally stunted manchildren?

Because children and mentally stunted manchildren are the primary audience of anime user.

kids spend money manchildren buy merch ez

anime is primarily for children

The last passion project in anime is kemurikusa

Gonna probably come off like a pretentious prick here but I don't agree, it's not an exciting enough show for mentally stunted manchildren

Dropped at episode 9.
Boring, ugly shit. Literally just mafia guys killing each other and a guy with a robot arm and a silent little girl running around. Don't say I didn't get it because there's literally no depth or anything to analyze here unlike Lain.

Hell even the moeblob isn't very interesting now. When was the last time we got one on the level of Hidamari Sketch?

Houkago teibou nisshi

Fuck off

You're like those guys who claim literally all modern video games / movies / songs / books are trash.

Is this rhetorical? Capitalism 101.

>there's literally no depth or anything to analyze here
It does to the point where people get it wrong all the time. It keeps getting touted about being a nihilistic work when it's more about overcoming nihilistic outlooks on life than anything else.

Nagatoro's one of the worst series I've ever read, it's like every bad romcom cliche rolled into one series and has one of the most unlikeable protagonists I've ever seen, is cunny seriously all it takes for a series to be popular?

>Don't say I didn't get it because there's literally no depth or anything to analyze here unlike Lain.
If you dropped it nine episodes in then it's kinda understandable why you wouldn't "get" it. The first half of Texhnolyze does a lot of setting up but there's still plenty of stuff to think about. 9 episodes in, you can already be asking why Yoshii is acting the way he is, why/how the factions in the city have developed the way they have, the nature of Raffia and its relationship with Texhnolyzation, Doc's fixation with Ichise and her reports to the Class, Ran's visions, etc.,

Also, the antagonist who occupies most of the second half of the series has a lot of parallels to Eiri Masami which should be interesting to anybody who found lain to be a show worth analyzing.

But tons of people drop the show less than halfway in anyway so who cares I guess.

For the 9 episodes i've seen there's literally nothing, no real story or dialogue or visual storytelling, it's just a badly animated bunch of guys maiming and killing each other.
If your show is so slow paced that it literally can't show me anything in 9 whole episodes then i'm not going to bother finishing it.

does to the point where people get it wrong all the time. It keeps getting touted about being a normal romcom even tho it's a social commentary on power balance and a satirical take on teenage romance

It's current, that's the only reason people like it.

>If your show is so slow paced that it literally can't show me anything in 9 whole episodes
It's slow but not THAT slow, I'd say only the first couple episodes at best feel like absolutely nothing happens at all

>why Yoshii is acting the way he is
I guess that's interesting but again it's not giving me much
>why/how the factions in the city have developed the way they have, the nature of Raffia and its relationship with Texhnolyzation
It's generic cyberpunk world number 6478432958
>Doc's fixation with Ichise and her reports to the Class
Idk I guess he'll turn out to be special or something
>Ran's visions
See that is interesting! I like Ran, but again she has nothing to do.

Anyway the show just doesn't have anything to show me to entertain me inbetween all of this, again I like Lain so it's not that I can't take a slow pace, it's just that there's nothing to keep me watching whatsoever.

Because anime is exclusively for mentally stunted manchildren.

>is cunny seriously all it takes for a series to be popular?
this and memes, yes

I swear there's at least three or four episodes dedicated to Ichise running around and suffering, and the rest are dedicated to a bunch of samey mafia boys talking about uninteresting shit and having an uninteresting conflict

Same, the wired is such a cool concept im hooked at episode 1

>Akudama Drive
You're right but akudama drive is actually more fit for manchildren than "moeshit" shows.

>Hurr durr why isn't there deep mature anime anymore
>deep mature anime comes out
>no one watches it

Do you fags just enjoy complaining?

Attached: id-invaded-anime.jpg (1280x720, 80.44K)

Texhnolyze is a fucking bore.

Lain is just so atmospheric and the art and soundtrack are so memorable and every episode has it's own thing it explores, I really really wanted to like Texh as well because it's made by the same people but alas I just couldn't watch anymore
I guess i'll go watch Haibane Renmei to complete the trifecta

For me it's despera

>I guess that's interesting but again it's not giving me much
You were nine episodes in. It's already directly shown you that Yoshii's been taken in by the "human energy" he sees in Lux and he wants to channel that energy into something he finds useful. There are a lot of questions you can ask about what the place he came from might have been like for him to feel this way, and why he feels the need to manipulate Lux's factions.

>It's generic cyberpunk world number 6478432958
I don't agree. Lux also isn't the only setting in Texh's world, and even then it looks starkly different from most cyberpunk settings and lacks a lot of the trappings people would consider generic (megacorps etc.,). A lot more effort is put into building the city up as a character compared to even the other ABe shows.

>See that is interesting! I like Ran, but again she has nothing to do.
Considering she's directly responsible for what Yoshii does underground (and goes as far as to keep him hidden from Onishi) I'd say she's actually a prime actor in the first half of the series, though it is admittedly pretty difficult to figure out what her motivations exactly are.

>the trifecta
everyone always forgets Niea Under 7 and Phenomeno
