I like the idea of skills being transferable.
Jap manga don't really do that, unless it involves dayjob stuff where technique is imprinted.
But it was suppose to be the core of most martial arts: Start out with routines for armed/unnarmed, and then eventually get other weapons with similar techniques, and keep on going.
But Jap writers generally can't into what mastering the fist is all about, and really want to masturbate over the infinite +1 swords.
