Because deep down, he was never really interested in women at all.

He's not actually that smart he just surrounds himself with competent people

yang is smarter in battle tactic, but reinhard is smarter in war strategy and everything else.

meant for OP

This.

He is intelligent on top of the fact that he surrounds himself with competent people. A lot of opportunities opened up to him because he was in the right place at the right time and knew the right people. Having a beautiful sister that an Emperor becomes obsessed with helps too.

It's absurd to think that just because he lost against Yang that means he's not smart. You could say that some of the battles he lost were because of the incompetent admirals underneath him. Those men were rightfully killed or removed after. If he won every battle he engaged in people would be calling him a Gary Stu and that doesn't make for an interesting story anyway.

Yang is the superior tactician, Fischer the superior coordinator, Poplin and Julian the superior pilots, Schonkopf the superior ground fighter. Reinhard only won because Yang was denied the position of authority he was due and when he was finally given it he was significantly outnumbered and it's for this reason that Reinhard seethed for the rest of his life.

Because the story needed a conflict. Realistically, there's no way Yang should have lasted so long. There is a point where no amount of military genius can overcome a difference in logistics. Just look at Hannibal.

also at battle of vermillion reinhard lost because of julian realizing reinhard's tactic.

That's actually pretty realistic (understatement) better than making him some OP mary sue like lelouch because no single individual can orchestrate everything at once.

It made for a great character dynamic for Reinhard despite being a golden god, a historical anomaly that exists maybe once every millennia he still could't beat in warfare some small wannabe historian that didn't enjoy fighting to begin with.

It's also interesting how Yang would be a nobody without Reinhard, since was only ever promoted because the threat Reinhard posed to the FPA.
Because Reinhard existed Yang ended up becoming the icon of Democracy.

I know im risking spoils by coming into this thread but goddamn, just finished season 1 and Kircheis died.

Really was not expecting it, consider me shocked and subverted.

Snape kills Dumbledore.

Reiner is the Armor Titan.

and Kylo Ren kills his uncle Han Solo, I know.
also OOARAIWINSLOL.

I won't say who but another moment like that will eventually happen.

Emil is the assassin*

*unconfirmed

I mean I already had a lesser shock at the 'Peace movement' politician woman being killed, I assume it'll be on Yang's side again to even the blows.

Archer is Shirou.

Reinhard's final line in the final episode is "At last, we truly have become The Legend of the Galactic Heroes."

The Terraists are Terrorists

You're right about that.

You mother is Terra, isn't she?

>I assume it'll be on Yang's side again
His leg actually.

In Sixth Sense, Bruce Willis is a Ghost

It was Oberstein's fault.

Cool head-canon (unironically), but show makes it clear he is a thousand times better tactician than Mittermayer of Ruental

Comparing LOGL to Geass is so insulting. LOGH has 50000 characters and most are realistic, Geass has onle Lelouch and everybody else exist for fanservice especially fucking Kallen

Semi-circles are the shit. Can't beat the semi-circles unless you're Bittenfield.
