I challenge any After the Rain fags to post any moment from it as memorable as this, just one of many outrageous moments from Daughter's Friend.
They cannot because there is nothin memorable about After the Rain. One chapter or volume just blends into another because nothing of significance ever happens in After the Rain. It's just a blur of pretty pictures where they work at the restaurant and nothing happens. It's basically a slice of life manga posing as a romance/drama manga. If someone tried to tell the story of the plot of after the rain probably the best they could do is "uh this teenage girl falls for this 45 yo restaurant worker after he's nice to her after she injured her ankle running and so she works at that restaurant and confesses a crush to him and then they have 8 volumes of cute moments that don't go anywhere and then he turns her down and the story ends" like seriously what else happens in the plot? he invites the girl to celebrate his son's birthday and uh at one point there is a black out and they almost kiss? Shut the fuck up.
I guess you love series like Shingeki no Kyojin and Virgin Extinction Island too.

I think I was 3 volumes deep into After the Rain before I realized it was romance between the main character and the old guy. I literally thought it was about a girl who was struggling to find purpose after a leg injury caused her to drop out of the track team.

This. Actual daughteru story with realistic father attitude and funny yakuza antics. After the rain is also great for non-fifteen years old girls that can only see romance in everything sourrinding them. After the rain is aimed to people who actually had/have relationships but also struggled with unrequited love, they are able to the understand not only the real struggles of the heroine but the doubts and maturity of a man like Kondo. Daughter’s friend is literally a better portray of your Friday soap opera.
