I'd say that Farmland is the last arc that is good before everything turned to shit, which becomes a totality with the introduction of Hild. She alone destroyed any remaining tension for Thorf to go and resort to lethal violence again.

Farmland was great and it got me interested to see how the story would resolve the conflict between Thorfinn's ideals and reality. Then the entire manga seemed to jump the shark.
