Agreed. The story started expanding rapidly beyond the main character and it was the ensemble cast and its interactions that brought a lot of its charm. It suffered a lot now that it's contracted badly because neither he, nor his antagonist can carry the story for more than half a chapter. FP focused 90% of the time on the protagonist who was interesting enough to make the readers want to learn what would happen next.
