The kid was the one piloting the robot and started the impact. On top of that they've been living in the hell he in part created for 14 years. Who's to say Misato and Asuka are not misremembering shit because they're both just that angry with him?

I sped watch the 3rd movie, but from a glance it seemed like Asuka was pretty much unchanged? Misato was seemingly the only person to have undergone a significant personality and world view shift in the years between.

Ritsuko was fully aware of what the Eva could do but she's right there. Misato was the commander in chief and according to militar law, the commander always take responsability for the subordinate's actions (If the commander was aware, it was his fault for giving orders. If the commander wasn't aware, it was his fault for not controlling his men). Asuka should be empathetic considering it's implied on 2.0 she ended as Ritsuko's guinea pig and her body ended fucked beyond repair (curse of Evas) but she became a bitter cunt. Having a sad past isn't an excuse to be a cunt and mistreat a child. Otherwise there wouldn't be bad parents or bad teachers. They were mistreated as children as well

The problem is the movie only put one side of the argument, the responsability of the individual toward the collectivity, but not the responsability of the collectivity toward the individual. Why the individual has to sacrifice himself for a collectivity that doesn't fulfill his basic needs? The movie basically tell the audience that being a wageslave without rights is OK. You may argue lol Japan but there were movies that questioned this. Even the original Eva questioned Japanese collectivism

Given it was Shinji's inaction that resulted in her being fucked up. She's entirely justified. If he had fucking manned up and done something, Gendo wouldn't have used the dummy plug and she'd still have both eyes.

Shinji was acting outside of orders. Also she likely spent that 14 years atoning and taking action to make up for her mistakes. While Shinji was a popsicle for 14 years. only to then double down on his mistakes when he came back.
