So is it really as bad as people say or is it just popular to hate on it?

It's decent. Pretty rushed but it's never boring.
Zig Forums hates every anime so you’re better off asking somewhere else
yes
13 episodes was not enough. If it was 24 it would have been perfect.
i liked it a lot, but it certainly has its flaws, mostly regarding length being too short and pacing being rushed. though, there's also charlotte, which basically has the same flaws, but severely amplified, so ab is not the worst there could be.
i'd say that it doesn't deserve the hate it gets, but i wouldn't call it a masterpiece either.
This was popular on Zig Forums when it was airing. Just want you to know that OP.
I liked it ,don't be a faggot and go watch it yourself.
It's fine. The end is melodrama shit, but before that it's one of the only anime that's actually made me laugh
It's probably one of the worst examples of this I've seen. It's so obvious there was a good two cour show there and they ruined it.
It's the same with Charlotte. Maeda clearly has all his VN ideas that can't fit into one cour.
last few episodes aren't that great
too short
vn didn't come out when it should have, or any sequel really
All of this. Unfortunately, raising money for new IP with a 24 episode launch is damn hard these days outside of Miracle Factories (Sunrise, KyoAni, etc.) or studios that are part of bigger corporate groups (A-1 Pictures, Aniplex, etc.)
The good news is that Jun Maeda has a solid 40 years left in his career so eventually one of his anime will get an appropriate 18+ episode treatment.
both, also why was Haruhi trying to kill Yuki in purgatory again?
Why didn't you guys tell me kanon was so good? My god i like it as much as clannad so far
Not worth one's while. Skip it.
Its shit burn it was overrated as fuck back in the day, I don't know what you're smoking.
a poor man’s Haibane Renmei without any of the nuance or interesting worldbuilding
music and comedy was nice though
Can't speak for Zig Forums but I really hated it.
We're IN A HIGHSCHOOL.... But it's IN THE AFTERLIFE... but we're RESISTANCE FIGHTERS for SOME REASON... and we have a GIANT UNDERGROUND BUNKER beneath the school for SOME REASON. Nothing about it made sense. It's a clusterfuck of ideas and none of them coalesce into anything greater than the sum of its parts.
>a poor man’s Haibane Renmei without any of the nuance or interesting worldbuilding
Also this a million times. Haibane Renmei is a better show on every level.
Nobody hates it, faggot.
It just was forced to end way too soon.
haha, nice one
yes, the pacing could have been better. it was objectively rushed. however, you're failing to do the the first thing yuri told you to do (after coming up with a new battlefront name): "look, you're gonna need to become a lot more flexible. accept things as they are". you constantly questioning shit instead of just letting it happen and letting the story tell itself you is what ruined it for you. the precise how of what they do isnt nearly as important as what and why they do.
finally you arrived are in the best universe, I'm going to have a tea with chocolate cake
It was funny when the Zig Forums hipsters back then tried to push the idea everyone hated, until the sales data came
>40k
The seething was glorious. That success still has noty been surpassed 10 year later for either Key or PA Works.
It's okay until the last two episodes. The show just shits out an ending with no real resolution, everything is fixed offscreen, and it pisses people off.
Its actually really good and I just rewatched it, 10/10 worth a watch and it wont take up too much time being 13 episodes and all.
They have filled in a lot of the gaps with all the other shit. So far there is an origin manga, origin light novel covering the same shit, and the Visual Novel adds in all the side stuff.
Unfortunately none of it covers the stuff that was glossed over between episode 12 and 13.
It wasn't the best but it touched something inside when I was young, and there's enough action and stuff going on that it's never boring.
Also the soundtrack is quite enjoyable, I still listen to some tracks to this day.

As far as I'm concerned I laughed a lot more than pretty much all the shit Zig Forums likes.
The current manga that is supposed to be a retelling of the whole thing stopped at episode 8. and they said it would start back up again in the fall but so far nothing. I was hoping that would cover everything they skipped between the last two episodes.
did Otonashi ever hear Iwasawa's last song? He was in the dorm room when she vanished. How would he recognize it in another life?
