The live-action problem

Is it even possible to make a good live-action adaptation of an anime? Or are the mediums of animation and live-action just so different that it'll never work?

Has there ever been a decent adaptation?

Exhibit B

any adaptation with a token negro is not allowed to be called even moderately decent.

Yes, Japan has made several decent ones. Why would you expect Netflix to make anything good?

What ones has Japan made?

They make them all the fucking time.

>changing jet for no apparent reason
but to answer you're question: almost 95% ish percent of the time no it's not possible, the only 5% that is possible is for josei type series or SOME other series that are purely based on real life stuff, but for those they're decent at best.

Yeah, but what I mean is, what have they made that's actually any good?

Speed Racer was pretty damn good, to be honest.

Blue Spring

Death Note, Gantz, Gintama, Rurouni Kenshin

I unironically like the Jet casting. Not sure how I feel about spoke but I suppose I'll have to see him in costume. Vicious is just going to depend on how good he is in the role, and Faye is looks pretty much exactly like the anime version.

>for no reason
Jet unironically looks better as a black guy. He already looks like a fucking black guy, he's just white in the anime. His facial structure is about as black as it gets.

>He already looks like a fucking black guy
no he doesn't, you just say this because he sounded black in the
>dub
2/10, made me reply, no (You) for you.

Are you fucking retarded ? How the hell does he look black ?

What if Jet was played by Vin Diesel?

In America every movie has to contain a Minority (a black person)
and a member of the LBQTRSVP whatever
maybe that's Ed

and what I mean is, if there isn't the Oscar board will not accept it for any consideration. it's now in their guidelines on what makes a good movie

Thank you anons, this was 100% a way to get some good recommendations and I appreciate the delivery

Look at his lips, nose, and basically every feature of his face. The guy they cast as him is basically a 1:1 minus the fact that they have a different skin tone. Good luck finding a white guy in hollywood who just straight up looks like a black dude bleached white. Because that's how Jet looks in the anime.

>Look at his lips, nose, and basically every feature of his face.
Are you blind !?

Don't worry, they already have the token LBQT actor accounted for

Fucking Harold as Spike is such a terrible fucking idea. Also, apparently Gren is a recurring character in the new one, so it’s already deviating in bad ways.

I want to kill these guys and then myself.

This shit is still happening?
Death Note's live-action is a mixed bag for me, for one the production values are obviously bad, but I really prefer the ending of the movie as opposed to the anime. Feels more loyal to the manga

>His facial structure is about as black as it gets
Explain. If anything his face looks more italian or mediterranean

Dear Vicious.. please kill off everyone in this movie

No, do you see those giant fucking things?

The only thing that could save this movie is if Cowboy Andy shows up in the final scene. saves the day, steals the women and rides off into the sunset

>Lips
Not that thick
>Nose
Very angular, slightly hooked, kinda narrow
>Every feature of his face
Yeah, you can totally see his monkey face from the side
He's not a nigger.

Jet is just built like an old man

that actor's way to young to play him anyway

In what world is that nose narrow? Of all the black recasts, this is easily the best one. They actually look alike. It's not like they made Jet look like a cheap street whore.

user a fucking iranian would make a better jet than a black person

actually.. good call I can see that

No problem, my dude. The only Jap live-action adaptation to be roundly hated is Attack on Titan. Even shit like Bleach and FMA are squarely in the 'okay' category.

It definitely seems like a made-for-TV kinda thing but I don't have a big issue with it.

Oh I wasn't aware there was a massive list of iranian actors associated with Netflix. Mustafa has worked with them before and actually looks like Spike regardless of what you spergs say. I'm not sure why it's such a big deal that the guy is black.

Not netflix but alita was a good western anime movie

You do know there are actual black character in that show. Just compare how much thicker the nose and the mouth is drawn compared to Jet's.

I don't even care for the live action shit, I'm replying in regards to the shitty arguments that Jet looks black when he doesn't.

All you did was show me a character with even bigger lips and a bigger nose. That doesn't change the fact that Jet could cover himself in black paint and pass as an actual black dude.

Stop arguing over stupid shit.

Seeing it from the side, I'd think Jet has ancestry from the Balkans, like Greek or something
