I watched these shitty movies back in 2014 and only remembered them for having a nice dub and horrible CGI. Now every time I talk to someone about Berserk they always try to tell me the movies aren't that bad or that the 97 anime looks really good "for the time".
I'm sick of these faggots trying to tell me this shit is passable. The Berserk movies are abridged worse than spark notes, the CGI sucks and the dub's translation is worse than the 97 show
The 97 anime was done with a budget of potato chips. Their pittiful attempt at the Blackswordsman arc is so bad most people just recommend you skip it. Too much is cut for a person to jump into the manga where it leaves off and while I have a place in my heart for that show it's just another subpar adaptation when all is said and done.
I accepted a long time ago that Berserk will never have a good adaptation. But I am sick of these delusional shits trying to pretend like we have anything matching the manga in any way shape or form.
Only major plot point that is really cut in '97 is Wyald, and as good as the Black Dogs are, it's not really crucial to the overall plot.
And they barely did the Black Swordsman arc you dolt, it's literally just the first episode to set the scene
Colton Morales
>Skull Knight >Puck >Silat >censoring the torture scenes >Wyald I know Silat wasn't really important to the story at that point but Skull Knight and Puck are some pretty major omissions. >Black Swordsman arc is for setting the scene Well the scene doesn't make much sense when the person who saves Guts from the eclipse isn't there.
it's impossible to adapt Berserk in anyform, since it relies too much on the art. Unless you somehow manage to copy Miura's art line for line and make it so it appears fluidly in animation it will always look like shit.
Nathaniel Mitchell
It literally cuts out skull knight you brain dead retard
Carson King
I get it, but I watched 97 before I read Mr Miuras Wild Ride and the omissions never made the series incomplete; obviously manga improves and expands upon it, but all the detail and plot relevance for Silat and Skelly doesn't really come about in the manga until Conviction/Millenium Falcon. Guess it's one of the things you don't really appreciate until you've read the manga itself.
I guess Puck wasn't included because they wanted to keep the tone more straight edge, but I agree, would have been fine.
And censoring is likely why Wyald didn't get included either, that whole arc is a mess.

The 1997 anime looks stunning even today, You're probably a retard who thinks Ufotable shows are examples of good animation, not to mention the anime is worth it for the soundtrack alone.
Bullshit. Overthinking the art aspect is why all the Berserk adaptations failed. Doing the regular process of creating an art style that animates well and then just adapting Berserk without sweating the art is all a studio needs to do and they'll have one of the best anime adaptations ever.
Levi Rogers
Anime is about animation not nice looking still frames. Not to mention it suffers the same shitty issue of having blurry, fuzzy glowing backgrounds that every pre-2000s anime has.
Parker Williams
The only one that's truly awful is the 2016 anime, the rest are fine.
Michael Cooper
No, anime is about creating the illusion of movement, the means you use to achive that are irrelevant, having more frames does not make your anime better, again you probably think Ufotable shows look good.
Logan Wright
>Overthinking the art aspect is why all the Berserk adaptations failed. >still animations and shitty cgi constitute as overthinking No.
Juan Brooks
>dub Get OUT!!!
Adam Adams
Hey, at least we got Hirasawa's amazing soundtracks. Also, making the Berserk soundtrack helped shape Hirasawa's sound for his Technique of Relief album, and that album is a masterpiece.
The 1997 anime is good, it's only failure is that it did not go past the eclipse.
Colton Perry
>looks stunning even today Nadia Secret of Blue Water aired 7 years prior and looks leagues better. I think it's possible but they can't use CGI and have to have the same quality animation as the movies. The PS2 and Dreamcast games aren't too bad direction wise. Soundtrack is great. So is the soundtrack for Sonic 2006 though so it's unfortunately not enough to carry much. I'm sorry I'll go back to my hole
>muh ufotable >ugh ugh ugh ufotable I've literally never watched a ufotable anime you insufferable faggot. I just want my animation medium to actually be animated. 'Illusion of movement' my fucking ass, it doesn't take a master of animation to tell when shit is low quality because of production restraints.

This board is filled with Narutoposting and Dragonball garbage, of course it's filled with tasteless retards who think the Berserk adaptions are good.
William Sanders
it's not shit you dunce. constraints breed creativity, just look at evangelion. I would say Berserk is slightly below Evangelion as far as productuon is concerned.
Adrian Russell
It also removes Donny, and the ending makes 0 sense
Christopher Lee
I just wish the movie studio could have done longer or more movies with minimal cg
the 2d animation in the movies was beautiful
Jason Green
also the eng dub for the movies is great
Cameron Torres
>All Berserk Anime sucks ass Fitting for a manga that sucks ass too, retarded berserkspic.
Samuel Green
New Berserk anime is likely a shitpost against how anime nowadays is infested with CGI considering they still animated the flashbacks normally
Nathaniel Thompson
Toie can make a good anime where the season is 100 episodes long.
Xavier Watson
The 97 anime is a perfectly okay incentive to seek out the manga. The animation, when it gets good, looks really good and manages to depict the best parts of Golden Age better than any other adaptation. It might not be good for your standards, but it's not offensively bad like the CG anime. I suppose they went the other way for that one. They got way more faithful to the manga (I guess? I didn't bother to finish it) but the animation is just atrocious.
James Ortiz
if i was a millionaire would i be able to fund a really well animated berserk adaption?
Andrew Foster
Their line of thinking was probably "We're never gonna be even close to Miura's art. I mean look at how that poor bastard that did the opening draws! Let's use CG models instead, that way they're closer to Miura's designs and 3d models can't go off model, right? It's genius!"
Lincoln Lewis
The 2D was beautiful in the 2016 show too but both shows gutted so much I can't get much out of them. God I wish Maybe it's the anime boomer syndrome catching up to me but I really can't give the old show a pass. It was half slideshow and half stills with little to no actual animation. It had good directing to hide those flaws as best as possible.
