Her byakugan has a longer range than Neji's and she was considered physically weak, you don't really need a hints to conect the dots.

For the Genjutsu, all teams had a clear favourite student that learnt everything from their master. Hinata was Kurenai's favourite in part1 but that was completely dropped out in part2 for Shikamaruwank.
