How come Dai doesn't have any culture shock? Wasn't he raised on an island his whole life?

Their culture isn't so different, and minor spoiler he and Pop do marvel at something Leona is used to later in the story.

I cant imagine how an island of nothing but monster cant be "not so different" from normal civilization. Dai doesn't seem surprised by or confused about anything at all.
