Does Jujutsu Kaisen deserve all the Naruto comparisons or are people exaggerating?

The structure of the main cast is extremely similar, and so is the forest battle royale arc with the chuunin exams at a surface level. Although JJK pretty immediately stops giving a shit about the team to pair Yuji up with Todo and Nanami, he's barely spent any fucking time with his actual classmates, so in practice the series is doing its own thing.

The problem with the Naruto comparisons though is that Naruto didn't invent it either and both casts were driven by editorial decisions. This shit is marketable and popular, it's a working formula, Jump will keep using it. Even fucking One Piece began with a dumb idiot, bitchy girl, reluctant cool guy and a mysterious badass mentor figure.

no. naruto is literally devil man (the old one) but it has a different world its built in with lots of people with power and lore built around how the power works

naruto did it better than devil man and bleach emulated the formula partially. at this point you can argue due to market response schizo half demon mc is solid. its its own genre and if you really wanted to you could even say it goes back to the incredible hulk. where the west had used it as primal form anime and manga tends to use it as a plot device and the mc retains control to some level. even against sasuke at the valley of the end naruto was in control and inchigo vs a number of people he didnt lose total control

Most of the similarities are pretty superficial, as evidenced by your pic.
That said JJK is definitely Bleach/Naruto inspired, beyond the superficial qualities its very different from either series.
For the slower people here, by superficial qualities I mean shit like setting, aesthetics, shit like how old a character is or what vague role they have (like how Kakashi and Gojo are both teachers) etc.

Who's the mysterious badass mentor figure? Do you mean Shanks? Dude is not even in the manga after like the first chapter and calling him a "mentor" is a huge stretch.

Naruto has one of the best worlds in all of anime which is why authors copy it. Most adventure shows are shounen which is why it seems like Naruto themes are exclusive to shounen, because what else would an adventure show be if not ecchishit? Seinen adventure is very rare.
