Why was The Count such an amazing character?
Why was The Count such an amazing character?
I fucking love how that anime looks
No you don't. You love the idea of how it looks, that it might appear artsy or purposeful to people who haven't seen the show, thus elevating you, the esteemed watcher of Gankutsuou, above the uninitiated. I imagine a typical fantasy in your head goes along the lines of this:
Let us consider a situation where you might leave your room, say for groceries. While picking out some dried pasta (hopefully not Barilla), you spot a particular ideal mate of yours. Now, you've resigned yourself to the idea of 3DPD years ago, but this one individual satisfies every physical need that you have. You then utter:
>Man, this pasta reminds me of anime, heh
They chuckle and approach you and ask what your favorite is.
>Oh, Gankutsuou. I love how it looks!
Their eyes widen. Immediately they understand that you're different from the shounen-consumers. You have soul, depth, beauty, and so on and so forth. You two continue to talk and exit the store. You have a wonderful life together.
t. ufotable fan
Well he's heavily based on an existing classic character from western literature rather than a putrid anime stereotype.
Literally me.
This

Who the FUCK are you and where do you know me from
kek
WHat's wrong with Barilla?
Because he was not written by a Japanese person.
Because he's a shitty half-assed version of the original character from Alexandre Dumbasses masterpiece of a book, in other words still great despite not even so much as living up to the original.
Can we make this the new copy pasta though?
i watched this recently. Loved the artstyle. Pretty great although the mecha battle at the end was suffering desu.
revenge after betrayal plucks at the strings of mankind's most basic motivations
it's even better when the person taking revenge does it at all costs, often self-destructing in the process
you need to get back on your meds, user
Because he wasnt written by some anime writer his actual character was created by a real literary mind. So yeah hes a lot better than most anime characters
the original is worth reading?
does it have space vampires and mech fights?
Pretty good post
Is it ironic that Gankutsuou is the most faithful adaption of the books even with it set in space france with giant robots when you compare it to other adaptions both east and west.
i understand what you mean but i felt like it still had alot of character.
Yeah, totally. And he gets Haydee's cunny in the end too.
>s the most faithful adaption
Characterization of some the main characters is faithful, not the plot as a whole. And some key scenes are given good adaptations, like the opera house scene when Haydee identifies Ferdinand. If you've watched the original trailer of Gankutsuou they intended to make the story more faithful to the book, in the trailer you see two lesbians kissing, the actual sea ship that Dantes sailed on often (no stupid spaceship), etc. But in the final product they've changed that and turned Albert's fiancee into a regular hetero girl instead of the spunky dyke she was in the book, and there's no lesbian sex scene either like in the book. Instead they've forced some closet homo relationship between Albert and the Count whereas in the original Albert had a hard on for Haydee wishing she'd be his waifu and almost ended up in a duel to the death with the Count. In the retarded anime the count does some faggot ass self sacrifice and dies. In the book he was planning on killing himself but survived thanks to Haydee and then boned her. In the book the Count has a father like relationship to Maximilian Morrel and saves Valentine just for him, he doesn't give a shit about Mercedes or her son. So in the book you have a happy ending whereas in the anime it's gay and nonsensical.
i remember watching this in middle school instead of reading the book and failing the test cause there was no QT trap in the novel.
Kek I forgot that guy already.
>Pretty great although the mecha battle at the end was suffering desu.
Literally this
Yeah the original book was literally a classic and I enjoy every single re-read but the anime adaptation, however aesthetically pleasing it may be (not to mention the great character design and OST) always falls flat due to certain retarded decisions the creators made concerning main plot points.
Because he's voiced by Jouji
Fuck I love Jouji's voice so much
user, I'm going to save this post. Don't be surprised when I use it to wreck a fag like you just did here.
People associate old things with class, so it should have been predictable, but seeing people prop up The Count of Monte Cristo is telling of how tasteless most people here are, and how it's all just playing pretend.
The original work is a fun, easy read. Go masturbate over your PoMo.
