Last time, Kanade seemed to have just about hit the limits of her English ability as she was still getting tripped up by certain phrases or saying things that seemed to have led to misunderstandings with other students or making her think that she's weird. Between these misunderstandings and classes the reality and pressure of studying abroad in another country was finally starting to hit her.
This was especially true after she heard about Sharon, one of Keira and Rebecca's previous roommates who'd dropped out. While Kanade was relieved to know that people still seemed to care about them she couldn't help but note that there was still a fiercely competitive atmosphere at White Lodge compared to the more relaxed atmosphere she experienced at Marseille. It made her wonder how her other friends were faring abroad as well.
At the same time Shouko, now in Monaco, tried calling but was left disappointed when Kanade missed it.
