What's this show even about? Is it just about being evil in an MMO? Is that it?

Bump
Sex with Albedo
Salary man power fantasy.
I really hate that it doesn't make sense. I mean, did he die? Get transported into personal heaven?
>wanting to fuck hairy gorilla
Politics and comedy. Watch season 1 if you are interested, but go back and read the LN from the beginning if you want to continue, the anime butchers a lot of context and visuals and skips over a lot. Ainz is a pretty interesting person imo, paranoid, incompetent, and too enraptured and influenced by the good memories of his friends which were the only respite he had from being in his shit dystopia.
The dragon emperor got greedy for treasure and summoned any players/places with powerful items (world items) into the world that Ainz got transported to. The different places and people that have powerful items from the MMO come to that world at random points in time. Ainz is also from a dystopian future where everything is shit, which is why he has so little empathy compared to people from our time. When the dragon emperor summoned the players and items by accident, he also "polluted" the world and caused modern magic (basically the MMO version of magic) to exist.
It's pure power wank fantasy.
I gotta admit, I got into this series because of the amazing art on the books. I didn't think it'd be such a damp squib of a story. I thought it was going to be a Berserk-esque dark fantasy.
Berserk is overrated. I thought Griffith was an absolute retard, if you want power you can't just literally fuck everything up when your bro leaves, you need to expect sacrifices and betrayal. Also I think the comedy works really well for the series. Don't see too many competent political comedies that aren't trying to push an agenda nowadays. Also I can relate to Ainz missing his old friends, and wanting to change society for the better. I can't get anyone to actually commit to hanging out anymore either. Even today the DM bailed on the D&D session were gonna have.
Holy shit, this is just depressing.
Sadly we're getting closer and closer to that reality. At least most of us will be dead by then but I don't envy people from the future any at all if things don't change their course.
There are these magical things called search engines, perhaps you should try using one.
Its a colonization/shipwreck story disguised as isekai.
he is the final boss of konosuba
A brainlet like OP would never understand...
the vr helmet scanned his brain and then they later used that data to create a world boss in a new game. Complete shot in the dark but plausable.
So basically Ainz just wanted to get away from the real world. Has he even spoke to his companions about his world is like?
Also, since these people are in this MMO, doesn't that mean they die for real if they die in-game or do they just respawn?
He has not told his friends' creations about what or who he was before, because he doesn't know if they would believe him, and if they did if they would still be loyal and happy with their circumstances. He sees them as stand ins for his missing friends he'll never see again, or like their children he feels as though he has an obligation to care for. He feels like he has to live up to their expectations of being a god with an unfathomable intellect, but is constantly trying to downplay it so he can tell them and stop acting all knowing.
The NPCs can be brought back just like in the game but it costs a lot of resources, but its not known if players can.
> Has he even spoke to his companions about his world is like?
No. They wouldn't believe him anyway. They think he's an all-powerful undead overlord, the closest thing to a God.
> Also, since these people are in this MMO, doesn't that mean they die for real if they die in-game or do they just respawn?
They die for real, but can be resurrected with magic.
In the end it's all elementary, because they're so absurdly powerful the only NPC fatality we've seen was from Ainz himself.
If I remember, didn't they say the game Ainz is in is an MMO that shutdown and Ainz is the only player in that world? Wouldn't that mean he's stuck in-game? How does he eat/drink/etc?
The hell, is this official?
Based
LN is fucking shit compared to anime.
He's a skeleton. Skeletons don't need to eat or drink. Supposedly his consciousness was transported to this new body, his old body is either dead or he just has a copy of the consciousness and his old body probably killed himself or he is working a awful wage slave life still, we don't know.
Yes.

You didn't answer the question about the MMO being shutdown. I'm watching some clip of the anime to get the gist of it.
He said he's from Ygdrassil but was flying and said something about Blue Planet. Are all these MMOs connected to one giant place or something?
>"I want my name to be heard across land, sea, and sky so I can see my friends again"
So is he the only player or not. I'm fucking confused.
He got transported FROM an MMO to a world that is not an MMO, but has magic in it. Blue Planet was one of his friends. There are probably no other players from his MMO at the moment but every few hundred years some show up, read the spoilers in this post for the reason.
So basically, people from different times get transported to Blue Planet and Ainz is from a shitty future. So how did Ainz get Albedo and the other NPCs to Blue Planet because I remember him changing some of her code so she isn't an asshole. Sorry for asking questions, just wanna understand the story before I watch it.
Blue Planet is a person, not a place. One of Ainz's friends loved stories about earth before pollution and just nature in general so he called himself Blue Planet in the MMO. The new place is just called the New World. In any case, the base and all the things in it including Ainz came because of the spoiler in the post I already linked.
Also, the reason to watch it is to find out these things. Not only that, but I recommend reading it over watching it very heavily. The anime skips over a lot of this, most anime onlys don't even know that Ainz is from a dystopia.
