So I notice anime fan clubs tend to consist mostly of guys. Which is weird because the usual stereotype of women is that they like cute things. You'd think that'd include anime.
Is the issue its occasionally-fanservicey nature, then? Because a lot of superhero movies women are known to watch with their boyfriends are known to feature a lot of fanservice too. Is it the way fanservice is mixed in with said cutesy visuals?
Or is the issue more so the kinds of personalities some anime portray some women as having?
>Which is weird because the usual stereotype of women is that they like cute things. Women don't like cute things. They like cock. Big, meaty cock.

user discovers girls stop playing with barbie and my little ponies when they grow up
Cameron Carter
Wrong Not in modern times they don't.
Parker Russell
Not 100% of the time, though. If cock was all they wanted they'd get their tubes tied. That they want kids shows they like cuteness. Perhaps not necessarily more than guys do; it's hard to prove either way; but their reputation for wanting to be mothers does suggest that.
Connor Bennett
Its probably just that anime fan clubs tend to turn very degenerate and girls probably feel uncomfortable. In the more moderated ones like college clubs I think you'll find more girls.
Evan Evans
Actually, I'm referring to the one on campus. A majority of attendees are guys.
Adrian Cook
how much more likely are uni students to be male? probably lots of women still getting wife'd instead of going to into pointless academics.
Ian Cruz
Without being too specific, it's a Canadian university. Most Canadian university students are female.
Brandon Lee
Also you DO realize some women actually choose practical subjects such as engineering, right?
Daniel Diaz
sure but i also know what STE(not M) students are like and I wouldn't associate with them.
Aaron Roberts
Nah, that's a meme
Jason Brooks
In what kind of 3rd world shithole do you live? Generally women are more likely than men to attend university in developed countries. It's often for meme degrees though
Noah Nguyen
This The type of men that would even want to join an anime club are essentially all bottom of the barrel degenerates IRL That's why most women stick to online shit like tumblr or twitter to talk about anime instead of irl gatherings Less likely to get assaulted online
Zachary Phillips
i've been out of uni for a long time and theres always been entire schools dedicated to segregating middle class + retarded degree women.
Alexander Watson
The anime club I was in during uni was all female, but it was more of a fujo club than anything else. We watched stuff like Free! and Kuroko no Basket, and made little figures out of clay. Sold keychains at cons and whatever.
Oliver Watson
>know what STE(not M) students are like Eh, they're not really that uniform. I'd say that in technology and engineering you typically find the shittiest, most annoying human beings, but in science and mathematics people are generally great, with freaks and narcissists existing but not really being the norm
Jack Torres
Only the first part of this, college clubs attract perverted weirdos too
Landon Perez
math students speak their own language, I suppose science does vary though.
Joseph Young
I graduated from both math and physics, but ended up switching to engineering later. Math people were very similar to physics people (although perhaps a bit more quirky in general). Nearly all astronomers I knew were really cool people. Dunno about biology, chemistry or other sciences though Engineers suck though
Angel Campbell
>the usual stereotype of women is that they like cute things No, that's the stereotype of girls. Then puberty happens. Precure is cute. Fujo and Otome anime isn't typically.
Jose Edwards
My college anime club was 70% ugly chicks, 30% weird dudes, 100% weird non-binary couples that made me want to puke.
Carter Johnson
It's the pedo stuff.
Carson Barnes
After the anime boom of the early 2000s, the popularity of anime has fallen. It's not "cool" anymore to watch japanese cartoons. It's mainstream now, yeah, but only the entry level shounens and such. The anime fans of the present can be divided into three categories, to which most people fall into: 1. The traditional crusty otaku, has watched around 500 anime and lost hope of ever felling the female touch 2. The failed normalfag, has watched at most 100 anime, all of which are popular shounen. He is also known as the casual. Most animefans nowadays are like this 3. The depressed fujoshi, has mental health problems, probably at least tried cutting, exclusively watches yaoi shows, rewatching them over and over again
Eli Ortiz
Same. I actually went to the info session, but fucked off midway through the first meeting. Kinda sad, but I realized I just can't talk to those kinds of people face to face. I was pretty confident it wasn't the place to really discuss anime, more of just a club for people with no friends to make friends with people of similar interests.
David Ross
Female anime fans follow the same logic behind Zig Forums's old "women are a meme" meme. I suppose there are fujos on Zig Forums who actually seek less-known shows and/or look out for upcoming seasonal stuff before Twitter points everyone toward the new hotness, but like all of Zig Forums women posters are a rarity. All women I know who watch anime only watch whatever is hip on Netflix or whatever's been pushed by Twitter. In 2019, I told my sister to check out KnY because she liked BnHA because it was popular because the latest season was new. She didn't check out KnY at the time. Then episode 19 hits and the show blows up, and now she's a huge KnY fan and buys shirts from Hot Topic and stuff. A friend of mine sometimes refers to herself as "weeb" as an ironic pejorative, but she never watches new shows and just rewatches select episodes of Naruto every so often. What most interests me is how the fuck do normalfag American women become fujos? There's already a precedent for "women kissing each other" being hot, which influenced me to check out Strawberry Panic in high school. But I've only known normalfag women to find fags gross. How did BnHA fans get around to shipping Bakugo and Kirishima? How's there a fucking South Park episode about yaoi?
I see my fellow zoomers have finally taken over this board.

Depends on where you live and what kind of activities you have in the clubs. Clubs that focus on cosplay and social activities like going to cons together or karaoke outings would have tons of girls while clubs whose members lounge around to play card games and pretty much doing nothing would have few to no girls. During my uni days, I was in a club with strong focus on social aspects instead of the anime aspect and we had our share of qt3.14s and high power level chads, also made some of the best friends in my life. Most of our activities consist of preparing for the next con (we had a con every 2-3 months or so) and playing board games or gossiping while having dinner with the whole club. Pretty chill uni life

>Be girl >like anime >go to anime high school club >see the fat pedo my classmates warned me about >see 6 oily acne faces >see the autist who always runs around in full Naruto gear >see the one gigachad that strangely seems to hang out with freaks. You're too afraid to talk to him anyway >see the one black kid with no friends >leave
Grayson Phillips
Heh, this actually happened to the college girls trying to join the club at the beginning of the semester before realizing how much of a sausage fest the space is.
Henry Jackson
The answer is just : girls look at the guys who watch anime and decide that they're creepy and gross and short and ugly, and thus join a hobby where they can find hotter guys to pursue the kind of thing that is talking about.
Asher Anderson
In my anime club during HS I remember the girls out numbering the guys. I didn't stay long tho. I went to the superior Asian club, we'd have bbq's and talk anime.
