There has been multible times western culture has been expressed in anime. The most obvious example is the anime/manga durarara. The name it self comes from how the japanese pronounce dullahan. Other instances will be listed here >guts is based off a german knight name gotz >the characters in soul eater are based of greek mythos >hellsing is based of van hellsing and vampire(which are western) >panzer girls(panzer like as in a german tank/tank unit) >7DS is about britain and its tales of giants and fairys >fma is based of 1890s europe and had a film based in germany >olympian kykos is based off greece >goblin slayer is based off western knights >one piece are based off western pirates >ultramarine magmell is based of celtic mythos in name >cowboy bebop is based of cowboys and the wild west >jojo is based in the west and has vampires(which are western) >hells is based of the western dipiction of hell. The monster girls are based of western horror such as frankenstein. >lupin the third is based in europe and the guy is italian
you'd need 3 000 dedicated threads to point out every western influence has on anime, Japan as a whole is nothing more than a westernized island on the east ever since the 1800s

there's way too many, user. Christianity alone is one of the most used iconography in anime, medieval Europe is omnipresent in every fantasy setting, almost every anime I can think of has some form of western mythology behind it, the ones that don't are historical samurai-era stuff.
Bentley Jenkins
Nah, oldest schools weren't in europe, I'm fairly sure that China had some type of schools in 2000BC or so. But the japanese uniforms are clearly based on european clothing

>guts is based off a german knight name gotz Miura stated in an interview that he had no idea a man so close to Guts even existed. He learned about it in the interview and described the resemblance in traits as uncanny.

Oldest schools were in Greece, like 5000 BC, but they mostly taught military matters. The first universities were founded in the middle ages in Europe.

There must be thousands of them, and it's weird that you think Durarara is the most obvious when compared to something like Trigun which is both far better known and far more direct.

Not to be that guy but Fate is filled to the brim with western characters. It's probably because I'm eu fag but I've always liked the references, even if they're wrong, simplified or altered. History, myths and legends which are interesting by itself but it's also nice to see them from fresh perspective, with different approach. And it's something more relatable than jp culture.

Well, those were pretty much the only ones. And they are just relatively minor villains compared to to the kishin, who is clearly not from the greek mythos
No anime yet, but Shuumatsu no Walkyrie/Record of Ragnarok is all about heroes and gods from all cultures duking it out. Some Japanwank as is to be expected and there are huge liberties taken with the characters' origins, but it's a fun romp.
