I remember you, Carlos.
Poor Carlos, I really feel sorry for him
Bro I'm tearing up. Why is this anime so sad?
Because you have to get sad once in a while.
Yeah but it's been an absolute wild ride. Nothing I've seen ever been this consistently high in quality. Yes the Harimau fight was stupid as fuck but it's also hilarious with how much Yoko wanted to fuck with Joe.
the 21st night of September?

HEY JOE
DO YOU REMEMBER?
>mfw I got to this scene
I thought I had already finished the merry-go-round of suffering and emotional trauma, at least until the ending, but then they had to wheel out Carlos to hit us one more time before the final ride out.
I remember forgetting.
At least the Japanese still remember.
C.. CARLOS...
Reading the manga, currently on volume 14
Was honestly kinda disappointed at first because Joe was such an asshole for nearly the first half of the manga, it was so distracting but damn the payoff was good, at first I was only going to read the manga but I may start watching the anime soon after finishing the manga, I want to witness some of my favorite moments in animation
Also, fuck man I nearly teared up at Rishiki's death
It's a fun time. I've been doing both at the same time right now. and honestly they both have their differences that I like or hate. It's too bad part 1 scans are fucking rough to read and only gets better after the prison arc. I think the events timeline and some panels/pacing in the manga are better but the anime has a much more likable Joe with some good original stuff. The Rikishi scene was a lot better in the anime.
I think that's the best part of the series, the slow transition from Joe being an absolute unrepentant prick to maturing over time with his experiences to being a protagonist you want to root for, whose biggest obstacle always seems to be himself and his inner demons moreso than the opponents he faces.
Why was he so mean to Yoko in the second part? Was it just the grudge from part 1 and regrets and guilt for Rikishi?
Wish we would get proper high quality bd rips of ashita no joe 2 instead of the shitty horrible subs one.
Because
1. She was and continues to be a bitch with a messiah complex who thinks she can throw around money to get people to do what she wants
2. She's trying too hard to control Joe (like she did to Rikiishi, essentially trying to make him her obedient dog) while at the same time berating him for being tame and not as wild as he used to be. She's lucky Joe doesn't smack the stupid out of her like he threatens to.
If there's a primary antagonist of the entire series it's Yoko. Her role as an antagonist in part 1 is obvious, but in the entirety of season 2 is her scheming trying to "help" Joe, knowing he doesn't want her help and he sees through half of it but begrudgingly accepts it as it's forced upon him because it happens to align with his goals to.
She's a great character though since she is nuanced and very multi-faceted, almost as much as Joe himself. She goes through so many subtle and understated character developments you could write a whole essay just analyzing her role in the story and the way she contrasts with Joe but also serves as a great foil to him and Rikiishi.
Another kino thing is I love how they reanimated all the flashbacks instead of just take stuff from the old anime and add a filter to it.
Although it was essentially the same core staff that worked on Ashita no Joe 1 and 2, it was two different studios who produced it, so I'm not sure AnJ2 could've used the original animation anyways.
this hit me like a truck
>Christ he's probably ridden with CTE...
>let's put him against the rabid version of the missing link, that'll be good for him
fuck that cunt
Anime canon that happens after Harimau
Is the movie worth watching?
I only read the manga, guess the producers realized too that she would've been too much of an unjustifiable cunt if they followed it
First time or rewatch?
i've only seen both seasons 1 and 2. just never got around to watching the movie.
Ending scene is way better than the tv series. It's where the I remember song plays. But the VA's are different for everyone except joe and danpei I think. More interested in the first movie, if that's worth watching.
They're just recaps.
I still don't know what the fuck they were thinking with Harimaru
Ashito no Joe is literally revolutionary socialist propaganda, the way Yoko treats Joe is supposed to represent the mistreatment and exploitation of the working class.
Re-reading I think she was just really naive. The doctor said Joe wasn't punch drunk so she went full in on bring Joe back brigade.
Actually it was Harimau which means tiger in our language.
I know they said Joe would've fallen off his chair if he was dead. But would it be the same if he was braindead?
>they said Joe would've fallen off his chair if he was dead
Who said that?
>sees Joe unable to drive straight
>sees Joe unable to walk straight
>sees Joe slip while standing still
>Doctor says it's difficult to see in a focused boxer
>Doctor only sees footage of Joe boxing
>oh well!
>resents the Doctor for not being able to see it and shifts the blame on him
she's a cunt
either way Joe as we know him was dead, he would've been far worse than Carlos at that point
