Pic unrelated right OP?

Pic very much related.

The general consensus during the Ouran storytime was that the anime was all-around better, save for the fact that it was only 26 episodes.

Not related to anything in this thread yet but why do people post examples of anime that just end unceremoniously before the shitty part of the manga? Why can't the person just stop reading the manga or consider only the manga before the shitty part if they're going to consider an unfinished anime adaptation better?

I will always disagree with this because
>the anime ending is shit
>for the most part the anime is a direct adaptation
>the parts after the anime ends are really good

Evangelion.
Karekano.
Saint Seiya.
Excel Saga.
Bleach.

I love Tomoko!

Fuck off hetscum (unless you are a girl)

why is the saint seiya anime better, if you could elaborate?

>save for the fact that it was only 26 episodes

Anime which depicts exagerated situations tend to be better unless they overexagerate on the anime. Like Asobi Asobase, Minami-ke and this season's sleepy royal Chino.

Even in the 26 episodes it had it was pretty much identical to the manga though. A good anime being good almost entirely due to having good source material is hardly an accomplishment and hardly makes it better than the manga. And as for the things it did change
>bad ending
>repetitive "slipping on banana peel" jokes
>As a personal opinion I didn't care for the art style they went with
>Renge being a more involved character didn't do much for me and was kind of the same as a banana peel jokes
On the other hand, the Alice in Wonderland episode was great and better than the equivalent chapter and I think there were some additions to Kyoya's and Tamaki's flashback that were good. But if the quality of the anime comes almost entirely from the quality of the source material, there are just as many poor anime additions are there are good ones, and it just ends without resolving the plot points brought up in what it adapts I don't see how that can be considered better than the manga. I did enjoy the anime. And the ending wasn't enough to make me hate it but it is not a standout adaptation in any way and even if everything else was ignored, an unfinished anime adaptation is always a point against it.

Houseki no Kuni but debatable

>Houseki no Kuni but debatable
Again, another good (and close) adaptation of great source material that has very little that should qualify it as being better than its source. And another unfinished one but in this case there's way more left unanswered compared to how the Ouran anime ended. It would be a travesty if there's not another season at some point.
