The current file size on most boards is 4MB, You can fit plenty of video and FLAC into a .webm with that. You don't have to extend the file size limit, server space isn't the issue. It's a feature of the format and as a creative group I think we need it.
Whenever there are file size limits programmers just get more creative with how they use code. Some of the best video games in the of all time are smaller than an 8th of that.

the whole goal with this has always been to have still images with audio, not webms with sound everywhere. for similar filesize and performance reasons, until it was forced offsite for sink reasons.
The only argument I personally need to keep them off of most boards is just to keep the boards on focus.
