The political side is done well and people will only admit that if Eren wins. That’s literally all there is to the “issues” the manga now supposedly has. It is better than ever, it has been this good since the timeskip and the storytelling flaws that are present now were even worse at the start of the manga. The only problem people have with the current chapters is that they fear Eren won’t win. That is all.

The chapters between Zeke and Eren and most of what happened before that was pretty pragmatic and well done. It's only this last dozen that really threw it all in the garbage for a generic friendship ending with people acting ridiculously out of character to make Eren look bad
Even if Eren wins, this pretty much cemented all of the alliance members as terrible characters. Hange, Levi, Jean, and Magath especially all got dragged through the mud for nothing. Even Erwin is made retroactively worse for feeding into Hange's delusions.
