Is manga really dwarfing comics in the west?
Is manga really dwarfing comics in the west?
Nobody gives a shit about comics or the west, fuck off.
Fuck off twitterfaggot.
I wonder how Zig Forumsfags are coping with this fact, but regardless fuck off back to Plebbit.
these
fuck off
>40 page comicbook for 9.99
or
>150-ish page manga for 9.99
Is it that surprising?
The west could only fuck itself over for so long before people realized just how horrible of a market the western scene was.
Like, time after time they just kept screwing over their base. Then it turns out that the whole time Japan's been churning this shit out by the literal truckload.
Of course this was going to happen.
t.butthurt weebs bullied in high school
Enjoy your ban
it's a simpleton analysis, a manga page tends to contain merely a few panel of content, something as low as half a panel for double pages.
>graphic novels
don't do this
When the hell is a new competitor going to appear that doesn't just produce capeshit?
The difference between appealing to the market demand and trying to "fix" the market demand.
Do people here buy manga in stores? How's your experience with that?
More words and more dense art has no bearing on the quality or even the density of the actual content, since so much of it can be redundant
Can't wait to see the comic book industry do a full 180 and use sexy girl designs again, realizing a loud minority doesn't speak for the silent majority.
bro why couldn't it be like this back when I was 11
>go to chain bookstore
>one single shelf of assorted Naruto and Bleach manga
>most of the volumes missing
>one spinning display of Fruits Basket
>again, most of the volumes missing
>parents shit on you for making them pay for a "picture book"
>cashier visibly thinks you're a loser
They're nice but expensive and I just wish that all publishers would go full digital sheaf
>comic section being mogged by manga
>the changing marketplace
American bookstores have looked like that since the 2000s
Are zoomers so detached from reality they have to ask how to physically buy a book?
Worrying. You just know jews will want to have a piece of that pie.
America should be glad, they literally embrace the diversity, what they always wanted
Since the book is typically wrapped in plastic, there's no problem of picking up non virgin books
Also there are some titles that aren't scanlated or scanlation group gave up on, like Shinji Ikari Rasing Project or Hakumei to Mikochi
How could Marvel and DC comics be failing?!?!?!
It really is incredible that a gigantic movie franchise that makes billions ends up generating no interest in the comics because of how god-awful they are. Doesn't matter if people like these characters, if the stories and art are shit people will stop buying, especially with the recession.
considering that the stuff these stores like the one in op, thing like bnha, one piece and whatever other shounen are sealing a lot. are they good? not at all, still they're way better than the shitty woke wankfeast that comics have been for years
Manga, you know where to start with what series based off of clearly labeled books. Art is wonderful, stories are unique and interesting, mangaka stick to a set story, more or less without being pressured to alter it at the whims of random "fans" dropping in. Mangaka are the sole person influencing the direction.
Western comics are incredibly varied, constantly rebooted, dozens of storylines and writers in short succession, inconsistency in lore and the world building. "Fans" demand idiotic changes to reflect minority social trends that become dated in months, art is all over the place to also appease those same people and companies who own the copyrights are willing to toss aside what is liked for what is acceptable for the moment driving away long time buyers and devoted readers. You don't clearly know what book to pick up and could potentially find yourself in the middle of an ongoing saga, losing context.
Manga is vastly superior. The sooner western mainstream comics crumbles and dies the better. Hell, comics are losing to independent comic artists who just crowdfund! Listen to the fans, the people who actually buy the product instead of treating them like shit and you can see why Manga is crushing it.
But Zig Forums told me manga is less normalfag than anime
That's not really the point. American industry cornered themselves by relying too much on cape shit and now there's no entry point for new readers. That is unless you have a time machine.
Maybe bacause nowadays every western comic is a cucked trans lgtbiasdfasdfasdf-friendly faggoterized multicultural kikered piece of shit.
Don't forget the west don't try anything new. They just reboot the same tired old garbage so they can hold onto the rights instead of trying something new. How many times has Captain Marvel been rebooted due to failed runs?
Is there anything more to western comics than cape and some random overpriced color trash?
If manga is THIS popular what do you think anime is then? Think about it
i'm not saying that nips are creative with the shitton of isekais and shitty tropes out there but just how come people stomach the same characters/stories in comics for 40 fucking years? it's just the same recycled shit over and over again
western comics are absolute shit, especially the marvel capeshit
-ish page manga for 9.99
lol burgers are so unlucky to pay double than others country
They’re the same shit
I'm more surprised by the fact that Barnes and Noble still exists
People ITT really delusional enough to think it's because of some political shit. They are just shit products like said and wouldn't sell with or without the agenda.
It's the same capeshit for years and years and years. With manga once you've gotten tired of Naruto or whatever garbage got you interested you can move on to lots of other things like cultivating immaculate taste with CGDCT.
Reminder that while you might despise western comics, your favorite non-isekai mangaka might have been influenced by them.
western capeshit got replaced by jap capeshit. In other news water is wet. Marvel and DC comics are a near dead medium and shonen series like BNHA will replace them on the capeshit comic book throne.
Yes.
>Endless variety from popcorny shonen to deep stories, to romance, drama, action, experimental plots, bizarre plots, mystery, in short countless possibilities for all sort of tastes. Art can be anything.
VS
>Guy in a cape catches criminals and punches evil caped men very hard, with a side choice of non-caped men catching criminals and punching them very hard instead of just bringing them to the police while also being willing to seriously harm the other evil caped men. Art is awful and samey.
Is it even surprising?
Those movies won't do that well in a few years. They were popular because the industry finally realized there was money to be had and people had been wanting the adaptations for a long time. Now that the big series, marvel, has wrapped up it's large storyline and DC can't do anything but shit, people will move on. These same companies will try and push anime movies too and will probably see a similar success until the virus of social justice is crammed into those movies killing the move before it can fully take off.
Pretty much. As much as westoids love to push the meme that drawn japanese media is all the same, it’s still infinitely more varied than their trash.
My local B&N has less manga than it did five years ago. It's dependent on the local demand to an extent.
I worked in book distribution for many years. Unless you get a whole case of something straight from the publisher something that's "virgin" probably already been handled by dozens of people before it even hits a store shelf. Books tend to get treated like shit in warehouses. I've seen plenty of things that had to be written off because people just aren't paid enough to care.
A movie is such a small investment of your time, money, and attention compared to keeping up with a comic series.
Zig Forums barely reads comics so they don't care
What's the deal with the green guy in the middle? His design looks fairly normal.
Comic books are so convoluted that it's no wonder there aren't any newcomers trying to get into it.
I doubt that. They'd rather die than having to admit that putting those things is not that much of a problem.
Ok but what are Lewis Trondheim and Boulet doing these days
both statements are somewhat true
Zig Forums has more bloated pages and more "content", but its just bloated, the action doesnt always move forward with more panels
>150-ish page manga for 9.99
Wtf it's expensive, in my country manga is only 4 dollar
Because people want entertainment pure and simply. Comics have become so poliical and scare readers.
