Seriously think about it. 99% of the viewers believed that in the ending of R2 Lelouch got the code, become like CC and they explored the world together. The sequel movie literally ends like that, so there is no need to remember the terrible plot and the forgetable characters.
In the livestream today, they said that the ending of the movie is connected with Z of the recpapture. The new animation (which is either TV Series, or movie series like a trilogy or ova) will have a completely new cast, probably will be set in the future, new main characters and LL and CC as the two sidekicks of the main character(s) that will give them Geass powers and watch shit unfold from the sidelines.
Finally, Code Geass will start to be relevant again.

Code Geass was never meant to be a long-spanning franchise, like Gundam.
That was a lead up to the hype and speculation that we’d get an entirely new TV series. You’ll notice after we got confirmation that it was just 3 recap movies and one new original, the hype died down alot. Also, this series isn’t about Lelouch and CC which are like the only characters most people on this board care about. Unless they bring back either of those two it’ll just be Akito again
