Stop thinking that Fujimoto knows what he's doing. Like 99% of mangaka, he doesn't plan anything out and just makes shit up as he goes. Of course there are going to be loose ends. It doesn't mean the product itself is bad, but it will never, ever be as tight and satisfying as something finely crafted.
